I was on a "Rock" level kick this weekend. Had fun replaying all the levels I-VIII(no level VI). I ran into a problem with "The Rock VIII". After the rock makes its initial run it comes to an area where it goes back and forth over a blue, green and red switch. There are 2 two - way switches here. One is controlled by the Gauntletz Grunt and for the life of me I couldn't find how the second one was controlled . Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thankz, Gman

Look for a Yellow Toggle(?) Switch near the end of the puzzle (King's Fortress vicinity). It was placed there, so that the solver would have enough time to do the rest of the 'path clearing' for the Rock. The Rock must be released, because only it can do part of the work of clearing the way to the King's Fortress.

You need to eliminate the boomerangz! That will make your job a LOT easier.
I FINALLY finished this loooooong level. Had one tool left in the resourcez at the end that I didn't need.

Well, I finally finished (only 108 min.) and with a perfect. And did you notice, I managed to do it without any questions. I liked this level because it was faily obvious when to use which grunt. There was some trial and error but not so much that I grew frustrated with playing. Thanks GooRoo!

WHY is it so easy for everyone else but me? I sent gauntletz to do everything he is supposed to do...I am waiting to step on the YHS until everyone else does their thing.... Gravity bootz has killed all of the boomerangz, got the shovel and dug ALL the holez but the two in the middle....no way to get to those without dying anyway.....I'll have him wait on the YHS for now. Now, I've got a shovel and a toobz.... If I send the shovel to fill holez and give toyz away....that leavez the toobz...but I am not sure what to do with him.... AND that still leavez the RR !!! How do I get it to roll around all this stuff? So, all you smarties who already did this level....help out a dumbie ok?

it's not easy... this level is long and annoying... it took me a while to figure it out by trial end error (mostly error)... ...always look ahead to see what is happenning if and when you release the RR, where does it stop and what tool to use to keep it ...

I believe that is what Guenter had in mind when he created the original "The Rock" ... look ahead to see what is required to "keep the ball rolling" (my attempt to start another similar set of CLz).

I am restarting this level...I have missed a switch somewhere I think....at the very end, I had shovelz, and I gave him the goober straw...and toobz. They waited just below the purple sword grunt. I sent shovelz first, after the RR went by, so he could suck goo, and then toobz....I got the new grunt made and sent him to get the warpstone...but by the time I got back, the RR was already spinning around the fort. I assumed that I was supposed to shoot the warpstone grunt over the arrowz, but it is impossible with the RR going so fast...is there a switch which keepz the RR from getting to the fort, long enough for me to shoot him into the fort? I hate to replay this entire level...I hope it is something simple at the end...not in the beginning... Gotta have my PERFECT!!!!

The main trick is to dispose of the enemy Grunt as quickly as possible ... you shouldn't need his Goo, so "use the Arrowz". You should have enough Goo to create the Grunt that will get the Warpstone and enter the King's Fortress. Even with being as efficient as possible, this last part is an "adrenaline pumper".

while the RR makes it's way through the arrowz... you can take the short cut... a hair pulling level... ... but what a joy when done... [img src=https://gooroosgruntz.info/emoticons/wave.gif[]

I found that it was easiest to get everyone in position as much as possible, SAVE, Then I sent toobz up to the area with the goo puddlez, after giving him the shovel...he dug holez as needed, or closed them and headed up, killed the purple sword grunt, then I gave him the strawz...he sucked all the goo, I baked a new grunt who went to get the warpstone and stepped on the YHS to allow gauntletz to get the coin and the "P". Gauntletz went back to wait by his switch. Then I sent the 2nd shovelz across the GP'z when lowered to step on the BTS, and back again...across the green bridge to fill in the hole, kill the last rockz grunt, dig the hole to get the "R", and up to dig up the toobz...then go back, step on the BTS again (just to make sure it was the way it was in the beginning) and go back to his YHS until the RR goez by...then head back across the bridge, wait for the RR to pass, then go up and get the toobz....swim over to the switch....let the RR pass, go to stand on the second YHS til the RR passes. Somehow, the RR got trapped in the area with the BOTS...don't know how that happened...so I had to go back to the YHS and release it.... To make a long story short....Because I did all of the leg work possible before I released the RR, it gave me plenty of time to shoot the warpstone grunt across the arrowz...I even missed the first time (warpstone gruntz are still slow, even on arrowz) and still had time to get him into the fort... So, it's another PERFECT! in 46:44.............whew! On to the next level! Hmmmm, which one will it be?!
