Probably I'm again pointing something that's already known, but the enemy grunt can carry a warpstone piece. Not without some complications, though:
* If he dies, you fail the level. It doesn't matter whether you already possess the "true" warpstone piece or not, King commits a suicide anyway. It happens also if he's a Thief that can drop the warpstone (yes, he really does).
* Once the level starts, screen is immediately centered on that grunt, with the image of a warpstone piece being frozen on the screen until we'll hit any key, only then it can reach the menu;
* He cannot bring it to the King, but can enter the area with the King. If he's currently standing in the place of the fortress, you cannot bring the "true" warpstone either. Only when he leaves the area with the King, the level can be completed.
* The CL with an enemy grunt carrying a warpstone piece can be STARTED normally... and completed as well. But trying to load the save from this CL will crash the game. This means that if anyone wants to use an enemy grunt with a warpstone piece in a CL, you have to make the level simple enough not to require usage of any savez!
An enemy grunt with a warpstone piece will still follow you around, though obviously he'll be unable to attack. This could make him an interesting assistant in completing puzzlez that require two gruntz, and you have only one... and this fragile fellow. However, an enemy grunt with a Magic Wand can do it as well, since he cannot attack, will not cast any spellz and still follows you around. The downside is: he's moving faster.
Shortly saying, an Enemy Grunt with a Warpstone Piece (EWP) IS possible to make, and you can even create a working CL that's possible to finish... but not without important bugz, a crash when loading a save, and the fact that a Dumb Chaser with a Magic Wand will be better for any taskz an EWP can perform (if not counting the faster movement).
Consider it as an interesting curiosity.
