I am involved in a radio play (on stage) of the Christmas play "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus". The play will be recorded (video) for local television broadcast on Thursday, December 6 th, and will be recorded (audio only) for local radio broadcast on Saturday, December 14 th. I am relatively certain that both versionz will be made available to all of the cast memberz (including yourz truly), and I was wondering if any of the Gruntzerz would be interested in having either version available for downloading from this Forum. (Some of you may actually be curious about just how ugly GooRoo is ... or what he soundz like. ) The entire play will run about one hour and twenty minutez (including intermission ... which may well be removed from the versionz I receive). I estimate the audio will run about 80Mb, and the video/audio combination more like 2.5Gb in the sampling rate I typically use (320KB/sec).

Well ... I'm really interested! 80MB of audio is quite small file ... but 2.5GB of video? I don't know how long I would download it ;P Where it would be uploaded then?

Sounds good. IMO the video would be better, but I think either one would be nice.

I'll download the video - even though I will bust my daily cap (we have DAILY caps ) of 2GB with it. (It'll have to be a night job. )

The sizez I gave were only guesstimatez (and I may have misplaced a decimal point on the audio ) ... they could be much larger (or much smaller) than the sizez I gave. I am pleased at the number of responsez in such a short time! I have 10GB of disk storage available (total) and the two filez will probably double what I already have stored in support of the web site and the Forum ... still under my limit. Of course, I plan to delete both filez ... probably before Spring (March 21 st, 2009) to free up the space for on-going storage needz ... Gruntz! I will post the linkz in this thread ... modifying the original post. And I will give about two weeks' notice before deleting the filez ... and this thread.

I have a lot of free space ( 257 GB free on my Hard Drives and additional 200 GB of USB-plug-in-Hard Drive ) so be sure I'll store them and often watch My C: drive has everything on it except for my 10,000+ songz. It has 74Gb (true capacity) with 30Gb free. My USB external drive (with the music) is rated at 320Gb, has 298Gb actual capacity, with 245Gb free. So the only place where the filez would be a problem is on the rented web host space ... with only 10Gb total available. I will quite likely make the "Yes, Virginia..." filez available in December, and remove them January through Thanksgiving Day (in the USA).

This sounds really cool! I definitely won't miss it. Bad news is such huge movie size. It will take me a day or two to get the whole thing

Perhaps, it will be able to create two versions of movie? High- and Low-quality ? That would be definately easier for some users ...

Perhaps, it will be able to create two versions of movie? High- and Low-quality ? That would be definitely easier for some users ... When I find out the size of the audio and video filez at my normal sampling rate I will certainly consider doing that! First, I will post in this thread about the actual size, which may be considerably different from my estimated size. Since my main role is as the sound/light engineer, I will probably be the second person involved who appearz on camera ... the Director being the first person seen, as he "setz the scene". So if your only interest is to see what GooRoo lookz like, you can stop downloading after five to seven minutez. When I have viewed something, such as a YouTube video, the file beginz displaying long before the complete video is available.

I'm really interested, are those materials available now? I have a VCR tape of the play, and either I or my daughter (she's the expert) needz to have (and take!) the time to copy it onto a DVD so I can load it via the computer. Her play "The Women of Lockerbie" just concluded its run Sunday, so when she getz over her cold I will try to get her involved in the conversion effort. But I can see about uploading the audio-only version (now that my memory has been jogged ) while I have the time today. But I have a Grunt CL to get ready for distrubition, and that is more important than my non-Gruntzy activitiez.

If it's not going to be released at all just say it or simply ... lock the thread I'll understand it then ... I have not learned how to create a DVD from a VCR tape ... and my daughter seemz to be too busy to either do it, or show me how to do it. From what little I know, it appearz that the file would be much too large for anyone to be willing to take the time to download it for viewing, anyway, so it probably will simply not happen. Locking this thread.
