I would guess that after ten yearz, the game may, indeed, be abandonware ... but no one from Monolith Productions, Inc. has ever responded to my inquiriez, so I have no proof that this is so. But this site is offering a 38Mb free download for the game. At that size, it cannot include the moviez ... and (since my desktop computer has gone belly-up) I cannot determine if this is just the DEMO version (which will not allow playing any of the over 440 Custom Levelz). It is just possible that there is a misplaced decimal point, and the file is actually 380Mb ... which could well be the full version. The text description talkz about 40 Levelz (strange number ... 4 'Training' + 32 'Standard' + 1 'Secret Level' only addz up to 37) and describez the moviez, as well. Or, perhapz some newer, exotic, compression method is used, but the DEMO version available from this Forum's web site is 45Mb ... which leadz me to believe that the download cannot be the true full version of Gruntz, if the size is accurate. If anyone downloadz Gruntz via this link, please provide a reply telling us just exactly what is in the file ... especially if it is the full version!

I'll tell you tomorrow, when our Internet connection is decent again. Also, it costs to download from that site.

I am ready to consider Gruntz 'abandonware', and offer (via snail mail) Gruntz in CD-ROM form along with the current version of the Gruntz Extraz CD-ROM (mostly my own creation/compilation of additional Gruntz material, such as all of the Gruntz Custom Levelz that are known to this Forum) for $6 (United States dollars) base price plus whatever postage is to the buyer's part of the world. The two CD-ROMz will come in a dual slim-line case, with LightScribe labeling (no adhesive labelz), so the $6 merely coverz the cost of media, case and packaging ... this is a non-profit operation. (Of course, if someone wishez to include a 'tip', it won't be refused. ) See the thread Gruntz Extraz CD-ROM for more complete information about the offering.

I GOOGLEd "Gruntz" the other day (some 52 pagez of 'hitz') and found several sitez that were offering Gruntz in various formz. I do not advocate downloadable Gruntz in any way, but have come to the conclusion that there is no one that is pursuing anybody offering Gruntz, whether free, or for a price in order to prosecute them. So I will offer Gruntz for my cost of materialz and postage (no charge for the time it takez to copy and label CDz (or DVDz), which runz a little over half an hour for CDz and about an hour for DVDz). I have run out of dual disc slimline casez, and the local source no longer seemz to carry them at all. So I will do some more GOOGLE-ing to try to find another source for those. That keepz the size and weight of the package down, which meanz lower postage costz. It may be that the cost of dual slimline casez more than offsetz the cost of packaging plus postage. I will do what is most cost effective in the long run.
