You may now provide me with your own (custom?) Avatar for use on this Forum, as well as use one of the onez available from my menu. There are far more Avatars available on the web host than are show, so ask if a certain Avatar (describe it, please) may be available. Please do not use any Avatar in use by another Forum member! (Especially staff memberz. ... those are usually custom Avatarz.) I know, there are close to 200 Gruntzerz, and it is difficult to avoid re-using an Avatar ... but a quick PM to the Gruntzer using one, asking if it would be all right to use the same one they are using will prevent hard feelingz.

Hard feelings over an avatar? Ok but wouldn't it just be easier on everyone to not put custom avatars in the list of choices and leave the others to be used however and whenever? For instance, I have no idea who uses what avatar and would not mean to offend but it could happen easily with 200 members and only 12 or so choices to make for an avatar.
I can't use an avatar nor anything else anyway cuz this new host doesn't seem to recognize me half the time. I have to login again 1/2 the time, it won't let me stay login'ed, it won't let me choose an avatar, sometimes it knows my password, sometimes it doesn't. Whassup?

This is upsetting. Am I the only one that keeps having to login every time they come to the board? It has accepted me as a member only twice but as a guest about 4-5 times. Then while logging in it won't accept my password. It won't change my avatar. It reverts to something else when I leave and then come back. What's up with this?
Anyway I would like to have an avatar with a grunt and hot rod but that's not available. How do I make that happen?

You may create your own Avatar (size limit = 100 pixelz wide and/or 100 pixelz tall) by doing a screen capture which includez what you want, SAVEd as a JPG or GIF (preferred). Trim it down in size with your paint program, and (if possible) change the background to 'transparent'. Then e-mail the result to me and I will upload it to my web host and provide you with the URL to use it as your Avatar. BTW, such Avatar would be useable at other web sitez ... not limited to this Forum. Right now, the closest thing I have available is a Monster Wheel gooroosgruntz.info/Avatars/Monster Wheelz.gif[/img] (which is 69 pixelz wide by 69 pixelz tall). My Avatar is 89 pixelz wide by 92 pixelz tall, to give you some idea of sizez.

when you login, log forever... I believe that Peekaboo's problem is with her ISP ... which is probably assigning a random URL out of many available, so that she never appearz as the same entity ... cookiez do not work. But if each login is with the 'forever' option, eventually all of the URLz assigned will eventually be covered, and the problem will go away.

Well right now I'm constantly being greeted as guest. And even when I click on 'forever' and then check the setting, it says 6 hours. Argh! And Bah Humbug!! I can't change anything in profile. Just won't let me so I give up for now.
Thanks very much GooRoo. I'll take the red go cart. It's much better than nothing. I have a screenshot of the gruntz in their sporty cars but not sure how to get it to you.

Because the Monolith Productions, Inc. Gruntz Forum is totally unmoderated, all that is happening there is an incredible amount of SPAM. Obviously, some of those SPAMmerz are also 'spoofing' my e-mail address in the garbage they send out, so that the stuff is "From:" me! Consequently, at least three e-mail serverz (that I am aware of, anyway) have my e-mail address on their "black list" ... do not accept. Only one has investigated, and determined (properly!) that I am not the source of the garbage, and have removed my e-mail address from their list. This is the first time, however, that I have heard of an e-mail server refusing to send to my address!
No, I have not received anything that I recognized as being from a Gruntzer with any attachment(z) today. Including "Gruntz" and "Custom Level" or some such in the Subject line will guarantee that I will actually read it, and not simply discard it as SPAM. Including your Gruntz 'handle' in the "From:" line will also guarantee that I really look at it.
Caution: I receive a lot of SPAM through an e-mail server identified (to me) as "=?iso-8859-1?Q?" and more characterz in the string (replacing the "From:" string that is otherwise displayed); SwordGrunt's e-mailz frequently come to me via that server ... and I may have deleted some non-SPAM e-mailz from him because of that. So a meaningful "Subject:" line is the way to best ensure that I pay attention to your correspondence.
Sometimez it is possible that your e-mail server has a "buddy list" ... trusted sitez to alwayz accept e-mail from. If you have such a capability, that "buddy list" entry may even over-ride the server's "black list'! It's worth a try!

I got your email tho this morning so don't think it's my server is it? Well maybe since this is all greek to me. I'll try to put you on the white list.
Edit: BTW, I sent the screenshots early this morning to the address you PM'ed me BEFORE I read your PM. They went out with no problems. Also the subject line said 'gruntz on go carts' and the second one was 'spongegruntz'.

I got your email tho this morning so don't think it's my server is it? Well maybe since this is all greek to me. I'll try to put you on the white list. Very few e-mail messagez go directly from the "From:" person's server to the "To:" person's server. My guess is that 9,999 out of every 10,000 e-mail messagez transmitted go through at least one intermediary server ... probably several intermediaries. Any one of those between source and destination could be the problem. We have very little recourse to determine the actual routing of such messagez ... and even less recourse to rectify an irresponsible blocking of messagez. I have another e-mail address through a provider that does an excellent job of filtering the chaff out of the wheat. If problemz persist, I will PM you to use the other e-mail account.

Happy days are here again. Got online with ISP support and they were great. Problem fixed. (fingers crossed) Sent you two screenshot, both now have my name added in subject line along with the original description. Oh please say you get them. Edit: BTW, when sending to you, a box popped up that asked to resize the pictures for viewing. Since I was afraid this might have contributed to my problem, this time I clicked yes. If that is a problem for you, then I can re-send in original size.

I worked on the Go-Kart, and everything was going fine, until I made the final size adjustment (down to 100X89), when it suddenly became very blocky (pixelated) like a checkerboard 'masked' the colorz, and altered the result. So I will start all over, and try again. (The Go-Kart trimmed down to 180X160 very nicely, but that final reduction messed thingz up.) I will start with my JPG version, and do a "Save as...", then begin the size reduction all over again.

This is the 'blocky' image I have after the first attempt ... when I come back on-line in about 4 to 5 hourz, I may have something you'd want to use as your Avatar. Edit: The final result will not have a number in its name, and should have a transparent background, instead of white ... so it will look fine on either text background color.

Alright, sounds/looking really good. I'm getting excited about this and also knowing how to send screenshots. BTW, how many different opening screens are there? I seem to have the same ones pop up all the time and also don't want to copy Sword Grunt.
And thanks to SG for helping me with that.

I have a JPG version of the Go-Kart, but simply cannot find the way to make the background transparent in PhotoImpact. So I sent it off to Gaby (the one who has provided the transparent versionz of the Gruntz with different Toolz) in hopez she can do with the program(z) she has what I was unable to do. I also asked her to try to convert the finished product to a GIF, but if that isn't possible, I will make the JPG version (with transparent background) available.
For whatever reason, I have just run out of energy for tonight, and will do no more than finish my e-mail and Forum scanz, and spend the rest of my waking hourz reading.

If you have any sort of Graphical Editing program, you can make your own avatar, and then GooRoo is nice enough to host it. If not, there are sites with free-release images, you can find one of them. I may make a new avatar some time soon.
