So you have the Gruntz REZ Patcher window opened, you click on the VirtualReality100.GRP file in another window, and then DRAG and DROP this file into the UPPER part of the window, and it doesn't get added to the list?
I laboriously created JPG images of the Gruntz tiles years ago via the Gruntz Level Editor and Paint.net and 'prt sc'. Those images are available here (for example). I do not have a program that will convert JPG to PID (or PCX), so cannot replace duplicated tiles with the simple rotated and/or flipped images to provide some minimal additional variety to maps. I found a download link for Irfanview, which is purported to handle PCX ... but the web page is loaded for download adware for other products, and it was a problem to find the one for Irfanview, itself ... and the plugins was just ... impossible to discern. So (using the supplied link) if someone can grab the additional tile images, convert them into the required format for the REZ files ... have at it! I can arange to make the altered REZ file(s) available for download for anyone who wants them. Many of my Custom Levels could be used to see the difference, as I usually used both duplicated tile numbers in my maps ... so such maps would appear slightly more varied than with the Monolith supplied original REZ file(s).
There is a treatise on the various tiles provided by Monolith Productions, Inc. as part of the Gruntz game which I wrote up years ago (and updated today) regarding the possibilities for some tile replacements, as in Ground Tilez and Tar, Quicksand and Nasty Stuff. Those would be of help for anyone wanting to work on tile replacements.
PCX2PID does not work.I made a 256 color 32x32 pcx file but PCX2PID says "1.pcx is not a 256 color image !".Even if PutPCXFilesHere is empty,it gives the same error. Can anybody help me ?
“I’m Rick Harrison, and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss. Everything in here has a story and a price. One thing I’ve learned after 21 years – you never know WHAT is gonna come through that door.”
Well, the error message can't be more crystal clear. Your image must have more than just 8 bits reserved for a color (8 bits is 256 different colors available). If you still claim your image is 8 bit, send it to us and we'll take a look at it.
