This is by far the worst excuse for an operating system I have seen in my close to 30 years on personal computers! The minimize, window sizing and exit gadgets do not exist! Every program (except NotePad) blows up to cover the full screen, and without the ability to re-size (downward), it is impossible to display a thread in this Forum and a working area in NotePad on the same screen display. In working to correct broken links, I usually have at least five windows open at once, with some part of each visible to switch between them to grab bits from one to copy into another. I was hoping to be able to migrate to the new computer, and have a stable display to work with, but I need a lot more experience with MicroSloth's newest torture devices before that can happen. I was surprised that plugging my current Internet cable into the new computer resulted in my on-line 'haunts' not recognizing me! I had to login everywhere! There must be something built-in to our computers that provides a unique 'signature', even from the same telephone line, and ISP source. That means I may even have to re-establish myself with the web host, in order to perform maintenance there. Bummer! I tried to start up Gruntz on the new computer, but the thumb drive that was supposed to be my Gruntz back-up did not have the MSS32~.dll on it, so the load failed. So I do not know if I will be able to play Gruntz, except back on this old laptop ... which is on its last legs.

I agree, Windows 8 is terrible. I think the main problem with Windows 8 is that Microsoft tried to create a scalable, portable operating system for computers or tablets. But computers don't work like tablets, and people don't want them to work like tablets. I've uploaded my copy of the MSS32 library for you, so hopefully you can get Gruntz working again with it: MSS32

I just finished formatting and loading a 16GB (actually 14.6GB) thumb drive with everything in my Gruntz folder, so should be able to sneaker net to the new computer and test it out. I just need to work out how to browse the main (C:) drive and (if necessary) create the same tree structure on my current computer. If I can't do that, every WWD will need to be provided with the correct path before playing it. That is a project I don't want to have foisted onto me.

Well, this makes me glad I still have my old Windows Vista computer.
You can't control the size of a window? That's awful.
