Hi I have a hp pavilion with the terrible win 8.1. I have tried to install gruntz as described in another thread, bus unfortunately it runs very slow. Then i installed Virtual Box, but my problem here is, that it wont run in fullscreen, its kind of windowed, all though win xp is set to 1200x1400 and full screen...it seems the game runs fine, but very small...can anyone help? thanks Bjarne

I am currently on Vista Home Premium, but expect to be moving to Windoze 8 soon. Regarding the patches: once you instal one that works, do NOT do anything with Gruntz Options, or the display will return to the default (small 640X480 pixel) size! So make your Gruntz selections before applying any registration patch. Also, playing any Gruntz puzzle that is smaller than 32 tiles wide OR 24 tiles high will also return your display to 640X480, so pay attention to the various Announcement threads for the size of the map.

Not at this time ... but perhaps someone might experiment with a different value (4?) that would allow a larger screen resolution. The registry is a complete mystery to me, so I am of no help whatsoever.

Ok, i found out, if i play in scaled mode (virtualbox), then it's fullscreen. When a stage is complete, the game crashes, when i want to go to next stage, so i have to press right ctrl f before that, then its ok....kind of goofy, but at least i can play gruntz in win 8.1...

Is "VirtualBox" part of Windoze 8(.1), or an add-on of some kind? If an add-on, what is the price of it?

So my main problem is locating a Windows XP installation disc. I know that my wife would be much happier with something that looks like XP than 7 (which she has now) or Vista (which I have) or especially 8 (which is the basis for our new computer). Wonder of wonders! I have a still-sealed Windows XP Home Edition disc, so I have the pre-requisite for VirtualBox! Thank You!
