Click on this link to reach the Google searchable entry that tells How to remove BoBrowser ... which I somehow acquired, and spent at least four hours this morning to get rid of it! The symptoms of the malware are: several shortcuts to things such as FaceBook and WikiPedia ... at least six, including Chrome (apparently the preferred browser of the malware 'author'). BoBrowser becomes your default browser ... and for Chrome users, it looks just like it. Control Panel/uninstall of BoBrowser does not work ... ends with a dialogue box saying something like "close all browser windows and try again". But the link method works!

This nasty thing seems to be able to imbed its installer into almost everything. I believe I 'caught' it by downloading Gruntz components ... small as they are. At least, that is the only download I performed this morning when the symptoms manifested themselves. One other 'symptom' is that the browser window is headed by "(where you are) - BoBrowser" instead of Internet Explorer/Chrome/FireFox/Mozilla/whatever browser is your favorite. For instance, in my 'chat' with my firewall provider was headed "Chat window - BoBrowser" instead of my preferred browser's name.

One other problem created by BoBrowser is that my frequently used links ... as, to the Forum's web host ... do not remember me, and I have to re-enter my identification in order to perform my tasks. Since I use a unique password for every web site I visit (and my memory isn't as good as it used to be ) that means plugging in my removable password device and doing the Ctrl-c thing in order to be accepted. Then I have to do the 'safely remove' thing so that it is not on-line when malware perps 'visit'.

Has your problem been solved? I also encountered BoBrowser problem several days ago. I searched the Internet and found this post (http://guides.uufix.com/how-to-remove-bobrowser-completely-and-safely-bobrowser-removal-instruction/). I didn't know much about computer and finally tried the free version of Malwarebytes anti-malware. It did the trick!

A word of advice: never click on a link from an unknown source ... and any 'guest' is automatically an "unknown source". In my experience, purported solutions to malware are frequently themselves malware.
