It's a shame you can't transfer that between computers. I'm pretty sure Google Chrome can keep that stuff tied to your Google account which helps a lot to migrate between computers.

I originally had planned to copy the (important) program download files to removable media and extract them on the new computer. But (in my haste) I located FireFox on the InterNet and downloaded from there, and that gave me the Windoze 8 version. My method wouldn't have helped, though, I think ... because it wouldn't know any of my bookmarks, either.

One thing I just discovered that I like about Windows 8 is the copy function. I 'installed' Gruntz on the new(er) computer from my own copy of a Gruntz Extraz DVD that was quite old (April of 2014), and this morning realized that I had created an image of the DVD on my external hard drive ... which connected very nicely via the USB connection. That image was from July 31, 2015! So I am only a bit over a month behind on being able to create an up-to-date GruntzExtraz DVD. Now I am going to check if the Vista copy function is anywhere near as 'smart' as the W8 version. If so, my ability to create those DVDz just got a lot quicker ... and simpler!

I no longer have any choice ... the Vista computer died in the middle of a PM session with my co-admin. I am now using Windoze 8 on the new(er) computer. Surprisingly, I had no with being recognized on this Forum! While I still had a choice, using this computer resulted in no one knowing me, and having to look up passwords for everything. Well, my problems are just beginning, it seems. My e-mail account doesn't recognize me, and my recorded password is not what the system knows. The e-mail account I used to set up the e-mail account no longer exists, so "Forgot password" doesn't work, either. And there is no way to converse with a staff member who could resolve my problem. Arrogant SOBs who believe that a discussion forum can resolve every issue ... it can't!!! So I am unable to respond to e-mails that are meaningful to me. I even set up a new account, with slightly alter login, to give that e-mail address as where to send the temporary password. The system says that account does not exist! There must be a time delay between account setup and the system realizing that the account exists. Perhaps tomorrow I may be able to do something. Right now, I am just ... very angry!

Don't give up and hope you get it in the New year better So Happy new year So far, NOT so good. When I try to access my primary e-mail account, I get sent to the new e-mail account only set up in order to be able to retrieve the password (automatically changed, not by me) for my primary account. And my firewall refuses to do a scan, even though it says that the software is up-to-date. When I attempt to schedule quick scan, Super scan and scan for updates, nothing happens ... it still says that scans are NOT scheduled.
P.S. On this computer I have not found a way to disable the touch pad ... except by placing a hard object spanning the area. Otherwise, when I type and rest either hand on the touch pad, the screen jumps ... somewhere (other than where I want to type). On the Vista computer there was a hardware switch that would turn the touch pad off (or on).
Also, Windoze 8 has managed very successfully to hide the Control Panel. Which makes it very difficult to uninstall something that is not working, prior to re-installing it.
