Thank you has all The games appears to be abandon ware (Monolith no longer cares), and I have been told that there have been several places offering the game on-line. I have provided replacement CD-ROMs to people who I knew had the game as long-time members of this discussion Forum, usually with the additional proof that their disc was damaged. I am somewhat reluctant to provide the game to someone that I do not know once had a legal copy of the game.
What do you think, Gruntzerz? Should I offer Gruntz to someone like this? I would do so on a cost-plus basis ... the plus in this case mostly for postage, since the poster obviously is not one whose first language is English (much less being from the United States of America), and I would have to go through the foreign mailing hassle.

Honestly, I'd rather just have him download the ISO so that he can burn the CD image from it. At this point, I can't see how that's a problem anymore, legal issues regarding this game are out of the question and going through the trouble of mailing him the CD is unnecessary. It should be easy to find an ISO for the game and install it from there, I used that on my brother's laptop to get it working there without the need of a CD.
Vincent: use Google and find a Gruntz ISO, use a program such as MagicDisc/MagicISO to mount the CD, and install the game from there.
I'm convinced we can treat the game as abandonware by now given how much time it has been and the history of Monolith employees not responding to any emails/calls regarding Gruntz.

Hello, here I finally find an Iso but in English, there did it are French patch? otherwise or to download French Iso? thank you I have patched a German language version of Gruntz, and that action performed a translation of much of the auf Deutsch text (and voices!) into English. I'm afraid that applying the available patches to a French version of the game would only do the same. Since English is becoming the de facto language of the Internet, the English language has become one of the most popular second langauge choices throughout the world. For myself, I am unaware of what an 'ISO' is ... is that a term similar to 'ReadMe'?

ISO is basically a digital copy of a disk that can be read like a normal disk, if you use an appropriate program.

Hello, here I finally find an Iso but in English, there did it are French patch? otherwise or to download French Iso? thank you Searching for a French version of Gruntz might be hard. As far as I know there are no active French users on the forum at this time. Or are there? If you'd find French players, you could just ask them nicely whether they'd be willing to share the game with you. If that's not an option, well - you're out of luck. Perhaps if you googled really hard you would find such version of the game in the deepest and darkest corners of the internet. But the chances of succeeding are slim. However, when I come to think of it, we might already be in possession of tools required to create a new version of the game in a different language. That would require new fonts (*.FNT files in the main directory), altered string table in the EXE file, translated texts in GRUNTZ.REZ (including plain text, new PCX and new PID files) and new voiceovers in GRUNTZ.VRZ. Sounds like a good full-time and well paid job to me though

ISO is basically a digital copy of a disk that can be read like a normal disk, if you use an appropriate program. So, what is the 'appropriate program' to use? (For Gruntz) My external CD/DVD drive is being contrary, and constantly swapping discs in the laptop's drive is ... annoying. But with all of the 'challenges' of Windows 10 (with a physical disc!), it will take a while before I will be ready to try a system based upon an 'ISO'.

A free program called "Alcohol 52%" can be used to read such files. As for creating them, it's not something I did often, but I remember using CDBurnerXP for it: cdburnerxp.se/help/Data/createiso

But for example in Win8.1 you can simply doble click the .iso and it will open itself in new disc, so you can then copy the contents from it or launch startup and so on. Maybe the higher generations of Win may be able to do it as well.
