I finally had to make the move from the original Gruntz forum to this site. I have been with that site since October of 2000. I would have never left if it had not been for the fact that everyone else left and there was no way to get information about gamez there anymore. Since I still love to play Gruntz I had come here in order to continue to play Gruntz. And can someone please tell me how to stop the music that blares out every time a new page comes up? Thanks

I finally had to make the move from the original Gruntz forum to this site. I have been with that site since October of 2000. I would have never left if it had not been for the fact that everyone else left and there was no way to get information about gamez there anymore. I know that at least half a dozen of us visit the Monolith Gruntz Forum daily ... there may be far more than that, but the others seldom post. FriedGruntzaholic, Gamer, IdleAl and I for sure check in to make sure that noone gets left behind. And (if Monolith doesn't change their mind) in February the Gruntz Forum domain will be released, and our group has first 'dibs' on taking it over! I thought that you were one of the "Gruntz Fanz", and received news and Custom Level attachments whenever a new one was released. Have I somehow missed adding your name to the list? The "Hallelujah" plays only when someone enters or leaves this Board ... "Introduce yourself, please" ... a new Gruntzer has arrived (or someone has welcomed them into the group, as this post). There is a wormhole sound that plays when one enters (or leaves) a Gruntz Board (Standard Levelz and Custom Levelz discussions). By popular demand the ambient sound loop has been removed from the main pages. (That saved quite a bit of bandwidth ... although we were in no danger of exceeding our monthly limit.) Welcome to the group! I think you will like the organization of this Forum, once you learn your way around. Happy Gruntzing!!!

Let's not forget that Bea checks in at the Monolith site on a regular basis, too! Gee, I think that means that almost all of our moderators check in there on a regular basis. First, of all, Mommabird, I want to welcome you in to our forum. I'm glad you finally decided to make the switch. I hope you become as comfortable here as you were at the Monolith board. I encourage you, though, to continue to maintain a presence on the Monolith board as there are still some new Gruntzerz that continue to come looking for help. Secondly, I don't think you've missed too much not being here. There have only been a few levels that have been released over the last 6 months or so, although we are eagerly awaiting GooRoo's latest creation; it sounds like it's going to be a test. Most of the action has been helping some of the newcomer's (Gaby, oldone, arkdriver, to name just 3) with a number of the custom levels. Oh, and Kevin, alias GPLith, has made a couple of visits here and revealed a couple more tidbits about Gruntz. Again, welcome! Oh! I like your avatar. What kind of bird is that?

Its just a little blue bird. You might recognize one of its relatives, the angry bluebird: Edit: This one I now have hosted on my own web site.

Its just a little blue bird. You might reconsicer one of its relatives, the angry bluebird: Do you mind if I re-size that down to 100X100 and make it available as an avatar here? (I won't make it available if it doesn't still look good downsized, or if you would prefer it not be used.)

I personally feel this is better than the other board, so I wonder why you dislike moving here.

Yes if anyone wants to use them, feel free. I didn't know how to make them come out smaller. Here is the other one, I like to call "Mrs Angry Bluebird" Although I don't really think she looks angry....maybe just a little annoyed. Note to Gamer: It was a personal, hurt feelings, thing that I'd rather not expand on.

As I look closely at the two bluebird pictures, I notice that there is a signature on each one. Mommabird, do you know the source, so we do no violate any copyrights by using either as an avatar? I am sure that if we post credits for the pictures, we will have no problem, but actually getting permission from the photographer would be safest.

FriedGruntz How about this for a ROFL emoticon: I have resisted adding more smilies than the 17 that came built into the ProBoards system, because all of the codes I have seen involve adding entries into the word list. The word list gets cleared any time this Forum takes an unusually long time to load (a security safety feature), and when that happens, the extra smilies are no longer usable. One Forum that I frequent has a box of extra smilies that doesn't seem to suffer from the word list problem, though. I will ask Carrie about how she does that, and perhaps add a few to this Forum. Mommabird, I like that ROFL smiley, so it would be the first one added. Next week I will save the gif to my own web host, and pursue an "additional smilies" menu.

It (all three bluebird pictures I posted) is by the wildlife photographer Michael L. Smith. I have seen the "Angry Bluebird" on everything from framed art, to mugs, to T-shirts and even sculpture. I have a stained glass sun catcher of the bird in my window. Here is just one more, to get us prepared for the winter season:

Hey, where did all my bluebird pictures go!!? That is indeed strange! The ROTFL GIF shows just fine, but the bluebirds JPGs do not. I thought it might be a hosting problem at first ... perhaps it still is a hosting problem, if the JPGs are hosted at a different site than the GIF.

Hey, where did all my bluebird pictures go!!? Unfortunately, mommabird, you are an innocent victim of what happens when a domain expires and the domain is not renewed by the original owner in time. The domain goes up for grabs and it becomes first come, first served. Photobucket.com is now a portal site. Same thing happened when MPI did not renew the gruntzgoo.com domain name. That is why, when Kevin informed us that MPI was not going to renew the gruntz.com domain that we rushed to make sure that Monolith would give us a crack at the domain name before allowing it to go up for grabs and become something we don't want-- a portal site or worse. Sorry.

Uhhh (scratchs head) I don't understand what you mean by Photobucket being a portal?? I use it all the time to post pictures to another forum I'm on all the time. Oh well, never mind....it seems to be working now

Uhhh (scratchs head) I don't understand what you mean by Photobucket being a portal?? I use it all the time to post pictures to another forum I'm on all the time. Well, what I did was, after you posted yesterday about the missing photos, I copied the link for one of the images then pasted it in a new browser window. The link took me to a site that was nothing but links to various commercial sites--typical of portal sites. My browser was actually redirected to this site. That, and my previous experience with the loss of the gruntzgoo domain led me to my, now incorrect, conclusion. I am told now, based on expert opinion (my wife ), that Photobucket had simply gone down and when that happens, instead of simply returning a "Page Not Found" or similar error, redirects your browser to a portal site similar to what I saw yesterday. And they get money for doing this. Sorry for unnecessarily alarming anyone.
