The password-protected board

There's always been one thing that was intriguing me on this forum, especially when I joined it a few years ago. A board called "Level Beta Testing Messages": what is it for? It appears to have some threads in it, but I've never heard that someone was using it. Beta testing always takes place in comments of the level thread or in private messages.

This is a question specifically to admins: what's the purpose of this board? Could it be made public to everyone? Or maybe some secrets are held in it, that normal users aren't allowed to see? (just kidding)

Nevertheless, I'm quite curious about what could possibly be revealed.

Early on, some Designers collaborated on Quest level creation, and that Board was assigned to them for exclusive use. When they completed it, the password was changed, ready for the next pair. Sometimes the participants deleted their thread when they were finished ... sometimes not. That's why some posts remain in it. The Board probably is no longer necessary, and could be removed. Unless some new pair wanted to work together on something.

So why not make it to the public if it's not necessary anymore? Would like to take a look at there.

... I don't know (remember?) the password! So even I cannot view the posts in that Board. I suppose I could invoke administrator privilege in some way, and acquire the password, but I have no interest in it at this time, and have several other projects I am interested in going on right now ... trying to back up personal and Forum things, and reconstruct Forum data lost when my previous computer died (twice!).

You could have easily looked up the password in the admin panel.

The password requirement should now be lifted... I think?

I went into the admin functions for the Board, and found a way to enter it ... without a password! (Probably simply because I am an administrator. ) When I attempted to get into the Board via a password ... I didn't need one! Was the password requirement removed? I certainly didn't find a way to do it ... but if someone else managed to remove it in the interim, that would explain the easy access.

I thought I remembered the password, and the earlier attempt just left off 2 exclamation points (!), so was going to try it again. The last one I remembered using was something like "NoneOfYourDamnBusiness!!!" ... without the quote marks. (Or spacing/capitalization differences.)
