I believe I have completed two new indices:
Which led me to ask this question. Has anyone with a high resolution monitor tried to achieve a screen resolution larger than 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels tall for the Gruntz game?
If so, did you succeed? And how did you do it?

BTW, I am using the Alphabetical Order indices (updating them, as needed) to create these three indices by map size. I have completed the numbered maps, and the maps beginning with 'A', and am currently working on maps beginning with 'B' as I am posting this. I will upload the three to the web host in about an hour (my lunchtime) for users to view.

1024x768 is the highest resolution the game was programmed for. I tried changing it with the Registry Editor by giving a different value to the "Resolution" entry and there are only 3 valid options: 1, 2 and 3 (from lowest to highest resolution). Putting anything else (like 4) reverts the value to 1 and the game launches in the lowest resolution. So there is no way to make it larger without messing with the game's code.
And if the "larger than 32x24" index is going to get discontinued, then I think it would be better to remove it entirely than leave it with only a small part of correct entries, like it is right now.

I don't think it would give many benefits in comparison to the time one needs to spend to segregate all the different sizes. Battlez could be added to the existing indices, though there would be very few of them.
Levels smaller than 32x24 basically equal the "Very Small" category and that is the most important because only these levels reset the game's resolution.

Levels smaller than 32x24 basically equal the "Very Small" category and that is the most important because only these levels reset the game's resolution. That is the same conclusion I arrived at ... that the maps which would force screen resolution back to the default minimum size of 680 pixels by 480 pixels would be of most interest.
Yet the 1024X768 (32X24 tiles) maps are also important (to me) because they can actually be played (with but little annoyance) on a 64-bit Windows 10 computer, and it is likely that there are many Gruntzerz who have the same problems that I have. Problems that have been introduced by the 'improvements' in the Windows Operating System since Windows 98 (under which Gruntz was developed).
We should all give thanks that there are young bucks with the desire and ability to produce work-arounds to the limitations technological progress have introduced into legacy programs (such as Gruntz).

Hey there! I'm still checking the forums once a month or so and I noticed you missed 2 of my levels in the 32x24 indices... The maps are: Shooting Experience The Faster The Better If you missed them completely, you might want to check them out and complete them on perfect

The maps are: Shooting Experience The Faster The Better If you missed them completely, you might want to check them out and complete them on perfect Perhaps those two are ones where my original 'Alt' text was incorrect, making them part of the (unreported) "larger than 32X24" maps. Or they were missed during the creation of the Alphabetical 'S' and 'T' indices, from which I gathered the sizing information. I will update the 'exactly' index ... and the 'S' and 'T' indices, if necessary.
