I had to rebuild my computer to allow for better gameplay...and misplaced my Gruntz filez...so I am having to replay and redownload ALL of the CL'z....blast.... I can't seem to get the game to play at 1024x768 resolution....it wantz to play at 800x600....or whatever the numbers are....won't convert to the higher resolution...any suggestionz? Download the Windows (XP ... but seems to work for most versions) screen resolution patch. The default screen resolution is 600X480 (I believe), and the patch offerz a choice of either 800X600 or 1024X768 (the one I use). Playing any Gruntz puzzle with a map smaller than the screen size you 'register' resultz in the game reverting back to the default size. Then you have to re-register your desired screen size. Do NOT choose the Options menu to set your screen size after applying the registration! (That also reverts you a=back to the default size.)

...you can read all about spellz and powerupz and more in the Gruntz folder sign with (?) oooo. Thanks Gaby. I was trying to remember what a roid does and found your post. Just read up on roids so I know what to do now. I wish I could see the imagez on this forum tho. It shows a box that says "imagez" and that's it. Oh and PS: I am starting 10th game of Gaby'z and would like to know where to download other CL games. Is that in the designer level section or somewhere else that might have a little more info on the levels?

Is that in the designer level section or somewhere else that might have a little more info on the levels? because of all the problemz with the web host I doubt if you can download any thing from any where in the forum as it was before, but... you can PM me (or GooRoo) what CL you'd like to play and it will be sent to your email ... you can also be on the gruntz fan list (how to become a gruntz fan) and get all the new CLz to your mail box as they're released...

Ok, thanks Gaby, I'll pm you but I'd like to look at a few to pick them out first. I've got a couple ideas of levels I think I'd like by browsing thru the CL forum posts. Where else might they be listed with info attached? GooRoo was kind enough to put me on the fan list already. Think I'll go to my email and click on link to latest release to check it out.

Suggestion for a painfully stressing and head-splitting level: Paul's A World of Sweetz.

there are 5 indicez where you can fined listz of CLz - 'by release date', 'by graphic set', 'designerz index' , 'alphabetical index' and 'by difficulty' (not updated yet)... so you can look for CLz according to your preferencez...

"Suggestion for a painfully stressing and head-splitting level: Paul's A World of Sweetz." lol. I'll take it under consideration as soon as this migraine goes away. Actually, I'd like to try Paul's levelz. They sound .... stressing..., nah, joking. They sound complex. Thanks Mandew and Gaby. Ya'll have a gudun.

I know this may sound weird, but try running Gruntz directly from the exe file. i.e. C:\Games\Gruntz\gruntz.exe.

it would be nice to add a new topic to 'What is Gruntz?'... about 'toolz, toyz, spellz and powerupz'... just for the information... I created a new thread in the Gruntz Level Editor Manual "Appendix B:Toyz" with only Tool ID, Tool name, and a sample image of each Grunt ... and made the word "Tool" a link to the new thread in the original post in this thread. As Time permitz, I may do something similar with your other three suggested topicz.

OverviewGruntz is a "puzzle-powered brain game", in which you have to find a special object (called a "Warpstone") and bring it to the King. (Note: Because the game is named " Gruntz", not "Grunts", pluralz here always end in z. It's just the way the game workz.) GruntzThe Gruntz the solver can control are orange (surprise!). There are obstaclez in their way to the king; Rockz (can be broken) ; Holez (can be filled) and Moundz (can be dug up) ; poolz of Water ( Gruntz can't swim) , deadly areaz (like Tar Pitz, Quicksand, Hot Griddlez, etc.); hazardous flying Objectz that drop thingz (on you!); Ground hazardz (such as Lava Geyserz); and enemy Gruntz (other colorz besidez orange) which fight your gruntz and sometimez each other. ArrowzWhenever a Grunt stepz onto an Arrow it must follow that arrow often to another Arrow . Some Arrowz are bi-directional and switch directionz each time their Yellow Switch gooroosgruntz.info/editor/Tilez/8GS/GS221.jpg[/img] is pressed. . (These are referred to as Two Way Arrowz, or TWA) Switchez and PyramidzA Switch with a curved arrow on it (called a Toggle Switch or TS) will switch until the grunt standz on it again. A Switch with a down arrow on it (called a Hold Switch or HS) will stay activated only as long as a Grunt is standing on it. Blue Switchez cause Bridgez to raise or lower; Green switchez control specific green pyramidz. Red switchez control all red pyramidz. BlackSwitchez can't be deactivated and raise/lower black pyramidz. Gruntz may walk across lowered pyramidz, but not raised pyramidz. If a pyramid getz raised while a grunt is on it, he will get squished and die. Toolz and Goo PuddlezGruntz may start out with a Tool. They also may pick one up lying around on the ground, use a Megaphone to call for one, or find one within a rock or a mound. Gauntletz break rockz and some brickz; Shovelz dig holez and moundz; A grunt using Bombz blows up all nearby rockz, brickz, and himself. Other toolz serve as weaponz to fight enemy Gruntz. To make new Gruntz, one getz the material to bake a new Grunt by sucking up "Goo", using a Straw ... called a "GooberStraw" in the game. It takez four Goo Puddlez to make a Grunt. It can be dropped at a Grunt Creation Pad so that a new Grunt can enter the game. When a Grunt diez by losing all health, it usually leavez behind a puddle of Goo. Thus, keeping your Gruntz healthy is important. To keep them healthy, Gruntz just love Zap Cola! Gruntz They can drink it from canz (25% of max health recovered), bottlez (50% max health recovered) and kegz (100% of health recovered) to heal up. Questz/BattlezToday, playerz tend to focus on Questz; Custom Levelz now outnumber the Standard Levelz built into the game by almost eight to one! Another part of the game "Battlez" can be played against 3 other people, but Battlez are usually played alone (if at all) against three computer-generated 'opponentz'. Most Battlez Levelz include little help for the AI, resulting in battlez which are not challenging. It's probably a result of inexperience with battlez level editorz. Adding more gruntz for the opponentz makez it a little harder but isn't a great fix. Note that in Battlez, the color of the grunt identifies the team, rather than ownership or attitude. Getting GruntzThe game is out of print now, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to find the CD version. A downloadable version is available from RealArcade ... the best I can do to give you a lead ... I have the CD. The price of the CD has been reported to be as low as $14 (when found) and about $19.95 is the high end price. I do not know what the RealArcade price may be. There are attemptz being made to negotiate rightz (of various levelz) to Gruntz, so that it may be possible to legally buy Gruntz CDz through this Forum. For now, that is purely a pipe dream ... but who knows, dreamz sometimez come true! I didn't make changes to the content in that revision -- I just rearranged everything on the page. However, I don't think all the rules should be given in What is Gruntz -- just some of the more major rules.
Do you mind if I replace the text on the front page with the editted text?
