Disregard the title of this level ... and don't try to save that Squeak Toy all the way to the King's Fortress! There is a perfect time to give it up; find that perfect time, and the puzzle is much easier to complete.

Okay, I tried to do it without asking for help, but alas, I am now asking. I am at the point where you walk along the balls and enter the area where four gruntz are throwing rocks at me. I am to smash the center mushroom with a megaphone behind it to get to the megaphone, all the while avoiding throwing rocks and another rolling ball! Then I am to walk back out again?? Impossible! I think I'm wearing out the right click on my mouse!

Look at it this way: after you get past this, the hardest part is over! Your challenge after you get past those Rock-throwers is to be fast, not lucky. With the Rock-throwers, you need to do things so that all four of the Gruntz throw their Rocks at nearly the same time, so you have time to break a Rock and avoid the Rolling GolfBall. Return to a place where all four will throw at you again, before going in to use that Megaphone. Once you have used the Megaphone, you have space to maneuver to break all the rest of the Rocks, if you want, in between dodging Rocks thrown at you. Then you just have to get out past the Rolling GolfBall and the other two Rock-throwers, into the lane of the mass of Rolling GolfBallz and to safety. Whew! Once you succeed, be sure to SAVE. Before you go through all that, though, make sure your health is as full as possible, then enter the shooting gallery and avoid taking any hits. You will need all the health you can manage for the next section.

First, you'll want to get the first 2 rockz tossing rocks at you at the same time. You'll have to play in the ball area just outside the reach of the left rockz a few times. Once you have the bottom 2 rockz tossing at the same time, then work on the other 2 gruntz so that all the gruntz toss in unison. It'll make your job a LOT easier.

So, you're telling me that this section of the puzzle is indeed possible. Hmmm.... Okay! Thanks for the tips! I'll let you know how it goes!!

It's just not possible! You're not alone ... that's probably what we all thought the first time we attempted that sub-puzzle! Keep plugging, you'll manage it. (We all did. )

Start with just one of the rock gruntz. Get him to throw a rock at you. Now advance toward the second rock grunt, but stay just out of his range. At the same time, watch the first rock grunt's blue energy bar. When it gets almost full, step into the second rock grunt'z range. If you time it just right, both gruntz should toss their rockz at, or near, the same time. Now repeat this same procedure with the last two rock gruntz, although you should be able to step into both of their rangez at the same time and get them to throw their rockz at the same time. The trick will be to synchronize their throwz with the first two. Of course, there has to be a complication, and that would be the two rolling golf ballz that you have to dodge.

gooroosgruntz.info/hintz/Standard/7-MiniatureMasterz/Stage 2/Stage2Bombz.jpg[/img] Place your TimeBombz where the numbers are (in order, 1 through 9) each time retreating to a safe Tile. After placing and exploding the third TimeBomb, more 'safe' Tilez will be exposed. The straight black lines indicate the route you should take. Edit: This seemz to be one of those imagez lost when Neron Hosting suddenly went out of business. I had a very nice screen grab, marked up with the Switchez numbered, and the order (and path!) to take in solving this puzzle ... but I can't find it now. Ah! But Paul has a very nice grab of the area, numbered that I will be able to make available!

Funny not to see anyone having trouble passing through the area with the four sabre gruntz before the rock throwers. I have been trying to do it for a week and I always end up in a puddle as soon as I pass the arrows, argh.....

I have been trying to do it for a week and I always end up in a puddle as soon as I pass the arrows, argh..... The trick in this sub-puzzle is to "use the Arrowz". Lure a Sword Grunt toward you in such a way that he has to pass the point of an Arrow ... then step on the Arrow. A most satisfying 'squish' is the result, and you have one less opponent to worry about. Each time you are successfull, SAVE, so you don't have to repeat from the beginning if you should fail (twice) and be turned into Goo.

Do I get this right, the "black one switch" lies under the rock surrounded by 3, 5 and 9 in the screenshot? I have only Gruntz 1.0 (there seems to be no patch for the German version).

The patch should work on the auf Deutsch version of Gruntz ... but will transform it into the English version. Years ago I purchased three copies of the German version on-line and re-sold them to English-speaking would-be Gruntzers ... and think I set up a test installation and applied the patches. But I may have only thought about doing that before sending out the CDs to the purchasers. You could actually do what I mention, set up a test installation and apply the patches to the test, and see if it works, except for the language change. Then, if you can live with that, you could apply the patch for real on the version you have been playing with.

When I have time, I can set up a virtual machine, install Gruntz, try to apply the patch, have a look which WWD files in the REZ have changed and patch my own REZ file. But that wasn't the main aspect of my question. ;-) I solved the puzzle in my version as well, I just wanted to know if the "black one switch" lies under the rock surrounded by 3, 5 and 9 in the screenshot...
