Your intent is good -- maybe we should have an Off Topic board for posts like this.

The reason there *is* no off-topic forum here is to minimize threads like these.
If it's about Gruntz, it's not too hard to look the other way.

I think it's good to indicate you're familiar with common fixes in order to keep others from wasting time, but still be willing to learn if there's something new.
If you hold shift when you launch Gruntz, you'll see the advanced options. I didn't see anything there that would fix your problem, but it's another thing to check.

I think you suggested this thread could serve as a general asking place. I think it could stay open in case others have questions like yours.

Sounds like there are plenty of good games out there to try.
I played a few Vivendi games and they were pretty great. I'll have to check out some of the others.

I think Gaby has a good point -- usually when you are excited about designing a certain concept, it ends up much nicer than when you force yourself. There's nothing wrong with taking a break from making custom levelz.
If you want the framework for a level, one method is to think of a "plot" for it to follow. For example, a grunt going around converting other gruntz so they can go beat enemies you met at the beginning of the level. One level which followed this "plot" idea was 4X100 Relay, where you had 4 gruntz in 4 separate sections which passed off a toy to each other which was needed to complete the level.
Another method is to think of an item (tool, toy, or powerup) and use more of that item in the level than usual while showing its uses. For example, a shield can be used to take attacks from enemy gruntz instead of your attacking gruntz. In the level Bombz Away!, I used several bombs. In Salta!... I used several jump ropes. (In that case, the grunt had to do fairly short tasks)
If you want more ideas, you can look through other levels and see if you think of anything when looking through them.

There's too many ways to die -- some worse than others. Of course, it's based on the real world, but ideally we don't have to face those hazards.

It is hard to choose, because we have so many favorites from all the levels that have been released. One level of mine I was looking through a few days ago was Decoy Ahoy! which actually is 5 or so years old.
Probably my favorite level I made was Bombz Away! Some of the puzzles are pretty hard, but you can get help if you want.
You may want to play through The Rock series. The first and third are made by Guenter -- a real talented designer from the olden days.

The rolling balls being out of aligment also happened on the bottom of It Takes A Thief -- I was able to just deal with it in that case, but I am interested in why that happened.

Most of my custom levels are like the standard levels, they are linear in fashion. Thus, I pretty much start somewhere and create the level from there. Thus if you saw a custom level half done, the beginning part would be mostly done, and the end would just be blank spaces.
What makes this interesting is designing something at one point which needs to be paired up with a method of entry or another feature later on in development.

Is the last version you have working (without errors) too far back that redoing it is a good option?

I would create at least one GruntStartingPoint, a warpstone and a fort. Try to complete the level before the error happens.

If you can't figure what's wrong, make a backup copy, and on that backup start deleting sections of logics. Once you find the right section, you can focus attention on that.

Why are foreign language posts deleted? The rules of the forums say all posts must be in English, so the content can be checked. If you don't speak English, type in easy words to a translator like translate.google.com/Members here speak other languages too. If you try contacting them via Private Messages and asking for help with translation, they might help you out. Related thread: gooroosgruntz.proboards.com/thread/27/english-language-posts-deleted
How can I become a designer? If you want to create your own Gruntz Custom Level, it's best to start off with this tutorial. You should receive your designer rank once your first map gets released.
Why can't I reply to some threads? Most threads require registration to reply, so disGruntled (guests) should register first to become Gruntzers. Locked boards can only be replied to by Moderators, Global Moderators, and Administrators.
How can I be informed of replies? On the top green bar, click Profile, then Edit Profile, and Notifications. Then choose how you want to be informed. To select threads to bookmark, go to the thread's page and select Bookmark from Actions drop-down menu.
What is my Warning level? If you post garbage on the forums, your warning level will increase. If it increases too much, you will be temporarilly banned.
What should I do to use the images on the site for personal use? Most of the images on the site are fine to use, but some images are personal to their owners, so ask before using an image. If the image is fine to use, then download the image, and upload it to your own url at a free image hosting site. (This helps reduce the bandwidth that is provided for this site.)
Why isn't GooRoo answering my e-mails?The URL may have been blocked by him in attempt to reduce spam. If you suspect he hasn't gotten your e-mail, it may be easier to message him on the forum or use a different e-mail.
What do the Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down mean in levels' threads?
A Thumbs Up next to a table element means it is available, for example when the level has a walkthrough, whereas Thumbs Down means that the file isn't present. (It's not a critique of the level.) If you suspect it has a walkthrough that isn't on the site, just ask an administrator or the designer of the level to send it to you.
How do I get custom levels?
You must have a purchased version of the game (not the demo version) to play custom levels. You can find them on the individual levels' pages. If you want to get the levels as they come out, e-mail GooRoo to join on his mailing list. You can also find them at Paul's Gruntz Page, though you will need to double click on the Gruntz head to extract them. Create a directory called "Custom" where the Gruntz program is, and put the levels ending with .wwd in there. To play the levels, start up Gruntz, and click on Custom Levels in "Single Player" to choose which one you want.

Where is the free demo version of Gruntz?Monolith released a demo which is hosted here: LinkYou need to open it when it has downloaded, and follow its steps to extract the files to a folder (like C:\Games\Gruntz)
Where is the Gruntz Level Editor?Keep in mind, you must have the purchased version of Gruntz to use the editor. You can download the GLE from here: LinkRelated thread: gooroosgruntz.proboards.com/thread/2193/get-gruntz-level-editor
