That last tip is just what I needed. Somewhere in all the suggestions, I missed that left-clicking on the mouse would get the spongegunz grunt to shoot BEFORE the shield grunt was on the target. I'm sure that was mentioned somewhere in all the tips I read (and believe me, I think I read all of them!), but it must not have registered with me. Anyway, I finally got the shield grunt onto the secret switch. Thanks so much to all of you for all your help!
Now, though, I have a new problem. When the spongegunz grunt has to shoot the straw grunt past the arrows to trigger the red warp, I guess I'm just slow, but I don't see how he has time to shoot him past two arrows to keep him from falling in the hole (plus both of them have to avoid the green slime). Any tips on how that is done?

Use two SpongeGunz Gruntz! I sometimes think that the Shield Grunt sub-puzzle was a training puzzle for things to come ... in HIStG, and elsewhere. But IIRC, only one Sponge has to hit the Grunt following the Arrowz, if you shoot at the correct place.

Sounds to me like you're approaching the problem from the wrong way. Don't try to shoot your grunt past the two arrowz. You need to take the long way around. See the column of arrowz going up the left side of the map, then across the top? Use those. Send the grunt you're trying to shoot over the arrowz up to the north side of the map where he can access the arrowz. Position your spongegun on the green switch between the slimez. Start the other grunt onto the arrowz. Select your spongegun, press CTRL-T and place your cursor on the arrow just above the hole. When your arrow-walkin' grunt is 3 to 3-1/2 arrowz away from the arrow your cursor is hovering over, left-click and if you've timed it right, the sponge will arrive at the same time your grunt is walking across that arrow, knocking him off that arrow onto the next column of arrowz that lead to the red-warp trigger and the warp letter.

I probably am approaching it from the wrong way. I didn't even realize that other column of arrows went to the same place, which may mean I need to pay more attention to all the route possibilities. I'll give that a try, and let you know how it goes. Should go better than what I was doing, though, because it wasn't working at all!

That did it! Thanks to everyone's help, I finally made it thru this stage. Somewhere along the way, though, I missed one coin, so I think I'll try it again to see if I can find it. But at least this time I know the tricks to get through the tough parts. Thanks so much to all of you for your help!!!

But at least this time I know the tricks to get through the tough parts. Thanks so much to all of you for your help!!! If you have Version 1.0 of Gruntz (CD-ROM, unpatched), you will not be able to get that Coin. Version 1.01 added a Blue Wormhole needed to get to the place where one Coin is located. Installing the Version 1.01 patch would mean that you cannot use any SAVEd games from Version 1.00. So it is a good thing that you would be re-playing the Level ... as long as you install the patch first!

Now, about that last coin...are you playing the patched version of the game, i.e. v 1.01 (retail) or v 1.10 (Real Arcade)? Unfortunately, that last coin is one of the reasons for the patch; the last coin is unobtainable without the patch. Monolith goofed when they published the game and forgot one very important...ok, semi-important blue warp. It's actually supposed to be located very close to where you find the red warp and the warp letter.

Luckily, I have the RealArcade 1.10 version of Gruntz, so I was able to go back and get that last coin. And the walkthru gave good directions on how to get it, so it wasn't too hard. I didn't even have to go back through the shield grunt sub-puzzle -- I had saved a version of the game just after the straw grunt had entered the red warp, so I was able to start from there to get the last coin. Thanks again to all of you for your help. If the next stages get much harder than this one (and it sounds like some of them are pretty tough), I may be needing help on them, too!

I have a trick that seemz to not be revealed here, about the sponge-shield-switch mini-puzzle: Place the first spongegun Grunt the most far you can from the puzzle. Then, select him and right-click on the shield. He'll walk until he can shoot. While he walkz, select the other Grunt and press T(just T, not Ctrl+T for me). Once the first sponge firez, fire the second! I've used that trick and won the puzzle in the third time(but when I didn't used this, I'd never got the PERFECT!). About the Space letter R... I'd never think it too hard. It has much more time to aim the spongegunz and no RBz. About

You must not have the patch for gruntz. It will add a blue wormhole past the arrow to allow the solver to get the final coin. You may find the patch at either the Monolith forum or at Paul'z Gruntz Page.

As most of you Gruntzerz know, this is one of the Standard Levelz that had errorz that prevented either a " PERFECT!" score, or even a completion of the puzzle. The Gruntz Rez file containz the original version, with the error in it. I have updated the original version to the version 1.01 state ... and then added a small measure of difficulty. By adding that extra difficulty, I also made it more difficult for the solver to do thingz in the wrong order, near the finish. That's what I did in my project to provide " PERFECT!" score Statz Page imagez for the Standard Levelz ... I did thingz out of order, and now have to re-play from the beginning in order to get a good screen shot. The thing you should look for is a Mound, where everything nearby is a Hole ... and no Shovel available to the solver. (You have to come back (with difficulty!) to dig up that Mound, and allow the Warpstone Grunt to enter the King's Fortress.) You see, there are now CheckPoint Pyramidz around the King's Fortress, and you need to lower those Pyramidz. This reply in the thread is the only place where I will put the link that allowz you to the 1.02 version.

I do love this level.
Sure it's easy and straight forward like the rest of the standard levels, which is why it's usually better to play custom levels for challenge, but it's still a fun one.
My favorite part is when you have to deal with that toyer jerk. He's such a jerk for wanting to make my grunt wanting to play with a toy, which is why I wanna kill him, which I can't that's ok.
The teleport maze is also awesome.
I didn't finish the level in one part since it takes more than half an hour to finish it. But it's a great level and I enjoy it a lot.
I also made a let's play of it which will I just uploaded.
