Played both 1.0 and 1.1
1.1 is definitely an improvement over 1.0. I like the change from the black to the green because it's more visible. I like the removal of the starting brickz from the center because the gruntz can go brawling in the center more quickly and it helps alleviate the CON mentioned below.
PROs: Very small = very fast if that's your thing. My battlez averaged 2.5min to 5 min.
CONs: Unbalanced tool placement. One corner has swordz! If you get stuck in the corner with Wingz/SpyGlassez... your gruntz pretty much get killed asap by the Swordz gruntz!
OTHER: Definitely a level that's played with a handful of gruntz... your biggest problem is keeping ANY alive long enough to attack the fortz so while you could play with 15, you'd be lucky to get 4 alive at one time (not counting if you've already conquered 2 other fortz)
I initially thought that this kind of a battlez level was boring but it's not really because it forces you to think faster and move more quickly and battlez never last very long. It's nice for when you want a change from the hour long battlez in the levelz that I tend to think in terms of.

Hey, everyone. Just to let you all know I am making a similar Battlez level that I made from scratch in the past dayz. I'll be submitting it to GooRoo soon.

Yeah, the toolz aren't well placed on this level. While one fort has spongegunz and BrickLaying, other has Swordz and Gauntletz!

Yeah, a good one is using Brick Laying to make some brickz (in version 1.0) and when enemy Gauntletz is ready to break them, use spongegunz to shoot him backwardz.

If you download the new version from the link, it will have all the toolz respawning! Makez the level an even greater challenge (or ease ).

I still have a copy of it, would you like me to send it your way? (and to Goo Roo for an official repost)

I still have a copy of it, would you like me to send it your way? (and to Goo Roo for an official repost) Since I am not a Battlez fan, I doubt I will do anything with this other than try to determine what is different between the version available from the Forum's web host, and version 1.2.0. It also suffers from minisculity ... I will have to create an expanded version just in order to play-test it without disrupting my screen resolution.

Well, I can see that this is kind of a newbie level, and the toolz being different on every fort is a signature of this map. I don't think brickz placed in the middle should be visible to every player. Also 2 zap cola cans are not respawning, so that is a very minor health restore, possibly not worth using your gauntletz. Differing brick heights also cause forts to be very easily conquerable, even AI has a fair chance of winning on this map (as it did in my game with MMM). The waypointz in this level are wrongly placed however, they cause the AI to get stuck and refuse to move from its own base. Only after a provocation they will start attacking something.

[shadow=blue,left,300]More from GruntVsViking: [/shadow]See the new Mid-Evil Madness 1.1 on the Gruntz section at www.freewebs.com/explodingdog/Edit: Mid-Evil Madness 1.2.0 will also be available within the hour on my site! The site is 'frozen', so I could not verify that I have the last Version of this Battle ever made available to anyone. The best I can do is check the date on the WWD I have, to see if it is newer than the creation date of this Announcement. December 11, 2004 is older than the date of the Version 1.1 (1.2) post. So I do not have the latest Version of this Battle.
Another example of why a 'free' web host is not really free ... and everything should be hosted on this Forum's web site ... which costs $9.99 per month ... and there is also a domain fee renewable each August ($10.00 in August, 2017 ... and likely to go up for 2018). But, as long as I am around, this Forum and all of its submissions over the last 14+ years will remain available!

I may have had the latest version of this one on my previous computer (the one that died, was resurrected, and died again ... for good!), but I do not have it on this computer, and not on my latest Gruntz Extraz DVD, either. Without a re-submission of the very last version available, there is little more I can do for this thread.
P.S. Since the original Designer has not been back since shortly after the four submissions, I think it is safe to say that if anyone wants to 'improve' it (while retaining the original credit as "GruntVsViking") you should feel free to do so. Just post here that you are taking on this task so that we don't have multiple Gruntzerz working on the same Custom Level.

The versions I have on this computer are dated December 11, 2004, with "Monolith Productions, Inc." as the designer's handle in "Battlez" and one dated June 8, 2015 with "BattlezM" as designer in "custom".
As to which one is currently available for download is concerned, which one would anyone want?
P.S. If I were to ever try to play it, I would first increase the size to 32X24 in the BattlezM version, eliminate the GruntzCreationPadz in favor of "Hill" tiles in order to create a reasonable "View the map!" image (which I would trim back to the original 31X21 tile size) with the GrtunCreationPads restored. I would only take on such a task with small Battlez similar to this.

...dated December 11, 2004, with "Monolith Productions, Inc." as the designer's handle... This is the one that is available from the forum, the one we downloaded and played. But I would like to see the BattlezM's version to see what it changes, perhaps making the level a little bit better. Also just noticed that the size of this map is not 31x21 but 26x21 - even smaller than specified.

But I would like to see the BattlezM's version to see what it changes, perhaps making the level a little bit better. Also just noticed that the size of this map is not 31x21 but 26x21 - even smaller than specified. I opened up BattlezM's version and also discovered it to be 26X21. I added 6X3 #1 tilez to make it 32X24 (renamed), removed the GruntCreationPads and replaced the #1 tiles under them with another tile, and attempted to create a "View the map!" image. None of my print screen options (F12, fn+F12, prt sc, fn+prt sc) work! Again! Windows updates have done me in, requiring me to re-find a solution to the problem.
I will store my version (easier for someone to work/test with) and create a download link to it, while correcting the original size. There would be 8 GruntCreationPadz to restore at the odd tile locations.

From earlier comments to this thread I deduce that the BattlezM's copy of the map is just version 1.1 or 1.2 (an update done long ago by the author) with minimal to no changes and a different designer name. The handle should be changed to "GruntVsViking" and this version could just replace the old one because it indeed is an improvement - especially regarding waypoints, since they are placed differently now.
