Could somebody help me? The problem is I'm not able to ScreenShot... It would be very cool to be able to screenshot sub-puzzlez and stat pagez. I tried the Fonction 12 (F12) key, but it didn't seem to do much... I didn't noticed any windowz, any sound effectz whatsover... is it normal? If then, where my screenshotz are send? Thankz in advance for help or infoz...

Look in the gruntz folder for file type "bitmap imagez" Double click that and you'll have your screenshot.

Could somebody help me? The problem is I'm not able to ScreenShot... Immediately to the right of the F12 key (on most keyboardz) is a key with two functionz: Print Scr(ee)n will send a snapshot of what is on your screen to your clipboard. Then you open your Paint program (whatever it is named) and do a 'paste' into the empty drawing area. For most paint programz, the default is to save in BMP (BitMap) format ... which would be quite a large file ... select JPG instead when you SAVE it ... much smaller. BTW, when you snapshot the Statz page, all of the animated imagez (including the " PERFECT!" which scrollz across the screen) are actually 'blinking' on and off. I have an uncanny knack for doing my Print Scrn when those imagez are blinked off! So I do a SAVE just before I waltz the Warpstone into the King's Fortress so that I can quickly try again to get a capture that includez " PERFECT!" for supporting documentation of a Custom Level.

That's helpful, since I'm having really weird issues with screenshots on my computer, especially while using the Virtual Machine, and with F12 I can get a ready screenshot with just a press of a button. The only downside is that it immediately turns off the statz page, unlike Prt Sc.

On my current laptop (HP Envy 17) I am unable to do any useful screen prints! While in Gruntz I have used fn+f12, fn+prt sc, prt sc, f12 ... and none of them give me the Gruntz image. What I find in the clipboard is usually an image of the Paint.net program on the desktop, and once simply a black screen that may have been the size of the Gruntz image I wanted to capture.
I even tried doing the various combination of prt sc (with and without the fn key) and switched to Gruntz in hope that there was a delay built into the current so-called print screen function. No dice. Nothing usable.
Why do Microsoft and the hardware suppliers continue to make computers so user-UNfriendly?!?
I cannot even find a way to change the operation of this laptop's keyboard so that the keys in the F1 through F12 positions are actually used for the intended functions without using them in combination with the fn key ... and there is nothing on the Internet that works as described. This computer does not even have 'keyboard' as a Settings menu item! I know there is a way to reverse the hardware default so that the fn key is only required to change such things as keyboard back lighting, because I found it before. But each Microsoft update has restored the hardware default ... and seemingly made the process to make the functions keys actually function more obfuscated than ever. And I didn't make a retrievable record of how to put things the way I want (and IMNSHO, the way it should be)!

That's something new; the F12 method always worked for me. It's built-in to Gruntz, after all. But after you press F12 together with the Fn key, an image of something is created in the game folder, right?

No, the use of F12 (with or without using fn) results in either a black rectangle or (when I switch to the desktop to the paint program) an image of my desktop. Nothing remotely resembling the map of the game, or the Statz Page image.

The (working!) answer to this question will go into the Gruntz Level Editor Manual (somewhere), with credit to the one providing the answer.

I will now embark on creating an Index entry for program Function Keys, and their (useful!) uses.
It would have been far more helpful if the game designers had used the standard(?) clipboard store process. Perhaps in 1998/9 Microsoft did not have a clipboard available? Anyway, now I have my "View the map!" image for XKE.
Thank You!

Well, resolving that problem led me to take on another small project; displaying what many of the keyboard shortcuts will let the solver do. The information for taking Screen shots may be found in the HTML member Function Keys, as well as in this thread ... just more detail than has been posted here, based upon my own usage.

Some more info to the Function Keys page: The "enter" key is also used in multiplayer and enables chatting between all players. You can also send messages to yourself in singleplayer Battlez (to prove that it works). What's interesting about it is that when someone uses the "Mini Cam" curse in the game (which causes the player's screen to shrink), the text wraps and goes to the next line. Same happens if you write a too long message. No one else probably knew about this before we played in multiplayer. This small feature that developers worked on might've been used the first time, ever. Cheats are disabled in multiplayer by the way (fortunately).
