With the current project of (re-)creating the "GooRoo's Gruntz - The Journey Home" web site, I am finding sooooo many graphicz itemz I am lacking in order to do the very best job possible.
Not only the additional colorz of (animated) Goo Puddlez, but 'still' imagez of many other itemz. The imagez must be in GIF format, and should be 32 pixelz high by 32 pixelz wide (the standard Gruntz Tile size) and the non-image surroundingz must be transparent:
InGameIconz ... many of the Toolz (I have all of the Toyz)
InGameIconz ... all of the PowerUpz except and (Coin , Warp letterz , Zap Cola , etc.)
InGameIconz ... many of the Miscellaneouz objectz (Timebombz, Scrollz, etc.)
enemy Gruntz ... I only have the 'named' onez, such as digger, toyer, tool thief, etc. ... and a few otherz
I would like all of the rest of the colorz (green Gauntletz, for example)
each color Grunt carrying each of the possible Toolz
the 'facing direction' of the Gruntz is not important, so long as the Tool is obvious
the Gruntz font textual namez of very long named puzzlez, preferably 36 pixelz high and up to 600 pixelz wide with a base color of orange; for examplez:
It has been almost two weekz, and no one has come forth to volunteer in this project.
I will work on it (alone?) whenever time permitz (and sometimez, when I should be doing other thingz ... such as distributing new Custom Levelz) ... but one person doing imagez is going to take a long time to complete the work.
Just look at what can be done with a walk-through with imagez to "spruce up" the text. This example will be stored in (almost) final form a little before midnight (Pacific Daylight Savings Time) today ... with the newest imagez added in place of what is now merely text. So view it later (on September 1st, 2008) for better resultz.
I have provided two of the long Gruntz Standard Level titlez, and did a strike-through in the list, and converted the entriez into linkz, so that the result may be displayed (for those who may be considering doing such a change for me). I had to do some real 'finagling' to get
"With four Gruntz, you can take on the world!"
to fit within 600 pixelz, so that is probably the limit of a title that can be made into a single line (from the current two linez).
Obviously, there are more possible enemy Grunt type/tool combinationz than I have ... but at least I have a couple dozen to start with!
Anyone able to help in this effort may post in this thread, stating which image(z) they will provide.
I created the Hit & Runner GunHat image from the Object Guard GunHat image ... just to see if I could make imagez that way. So feel free to comment on that ... whether I should stick to capturez, or continue to try my hand at modifying colorz in order to create new imagez.
I have captured five different colorz of Goo puddlez ... but they are not animated, and some of them need more work on transparenciez, I see ... strange spotz here and there. I have captured a few InGameIconz for several of the Toolz, so that part of my request is almost complete (by me).
If any of you have visited GooRoos' Gruntz - The Journey Home and browsed around a bit, you may have discovered that I have buried some information about SecretLevelTriggerz within the walk-throughz. Now if only we could get them into a Gruntz.REZ (or VRZ, or ZZZ) resource file so that the seven Secret Levelz could actually load ... we would have a start on something! So far, I have not found a Gruntz 'Standard Level' that does not have a SecretLevelTrigger in it! So there is definitely room for enterprising Designerz to create relatively small (32X24 tile size map ... or so) Gruntz puzzlez to be used as Secret Levelz!
Edit: (GooRoo) fixed the typing error in the link to the web site ... [ instead of p ... for some reason htt[ was not a valid URL.
Fixed And now I have the original orientation I wanted my gunhat.
I have been trying to locate the original post in which the animated Goo Puddlez I have were provided, in order to give credit to the source. My CRS (Can't Remember Stuff) seemz to be getting worse, the older I get.
The newest credit is for the spinning Coin , by Tomalla.
At least six more Goo Puddle colorz are now done, in animation. I am taking a break for lunch, and after that I will attempt to do Pink, using Hot Pink as a base. I am using Advanced GIF Animator, with the aid of ColorPicker to create these animationz.
Check out enemy Gruntz for the imagez that are now available for use in walk-throughz, and in postz on the web site and Forum. I created a do-nothing Custom Level in the High Rollerz graphicz set, where I have up to fifteen different Toolz of a certain Artificial Intelligence group, taken three groupz at a time. They are in the center of a 9 Tile area, the center Tile being the light solid tile, and the surrounding 8 being the dark tile. That makez it easy for me to grab an image (1024 X 768 image with up to 45 Grunt imagez in it), and then select a single Tool/Grunt and re-size it and make it transparent. When I have all the AI imagez in that set done, I change the CL to do the next (up to) 45 Tool/Grunt combinationz. I may have all of the combinationz of Toolz and enemy Grunt typez done by this time tomorrow.
If you right-click on any of the imagez, then select "Properties" you will have the URL of the image, so that you may include them in your own walk-throughz.
An aside note: I purchased a Hewlett-Packard K3680 Printer/Copier/Scanner/Fax machine and installed it today, replacing three devicez (HP LaserJet 6L, Lide80 scanner and older HP Fax machine) with one, giving me a bit more "real estate" on my computer desk and library shelf. Since I already had the USB cable, the cost (including a replacement ink supply) was $125 plus tax. That was about the same price as the older Fax machine (which died ... the reason for the replacement), and less than either the scanner or Laserjet (when I got them)!
I found that it is possible to give another Tool besidez the 'standard' one to a named enemy Grunt, such as Gauntletz. While it is possible to do so, it is improper to do so. So I will not be providing any imagez of a Dark Blue, Blue, Red, Sea Green, etc. enemy Grunt with Wingz (for example). If the Grunt type is "11" (Digger), that Grunt should be carrying a Shovel, and no other Tool is permissible (IMHO). Any Tool (or no Tool at all) may be given to Dumb Chaserz, Smart Chaserz, Hit & Runnerz, Defenderz, Post Guardz, Object Guardz, Tool Thievez and Toyerz. but let us define the rest with the Tool their 'name' impliez ... please?!?
The enemy Gruntz inventory is nearing completion! I have been trying to use a 'mask' for making transparenciez, but it frequently did not work. Today I discovered the reason why: the Gruntz are bouncing around, bobbing and weaving, etc., so unless all AI typez with the same Tool are captured at the same time, they are slightly out of alignment with other capturez. I will complete Timebombz, Toob, (Magic) Wand and Welder('s Kit) in the next hour or so, armed with this (new) information ... including to the Tool Thief AI type (for Tomalla's sake ... he was planning on working on Tool Thief next ... the Toyerz are all his work).
Except for a mis-naming of the Toyer grunt equipped with Wingz, the inventory of enemy Gruntz, and all of the Goo Puddlez are now complete. If I can figure out how to use the scanner part of this new multi-function FAX/Printer/Scanner/Copier I will upload an 8-1/2" X 11" printable document to the web host. The software that comez with the device is pretty smart ... it reducez the image of the HTML document in size to fit the paper I am using, and resultz in a very legible hard-copy ... in color, of course.
