We’re back in Minnesota and this time you get to meet our “State Bird.” I’ve lived all over this country and although Minnesotans kid about the mosquito being the state bird, I swear we do have the biggest mosquitoes in the world. So anyway, don’t get bit (or is it stung?) and enjoy this little level. (BTW, actually I believe our state bird is the Loon.)

There is one Coin that is extremely well hidden by Palm Treez. I just completed this CL (again) short one Coin ... and haven't the foggiest idea where it is! That is almost as frustrating as extremely tight timing mini-puzzlez ... one after the other, without any 'breather'!!! Bringing the Warpstone Piece to the King is (indeed) 'easy' ... obtaining a " PERFECT!" result is anything but!

I did exactly the same as GooRoo. Finished with 1 coin missing after a lot of confusion about blue switchez and green switchez. I think the coin is in the palm grove, but must play again to acheive the PERFECT. Excellent level, Oldone!! Edit: My missing coin wasn't in the palm grove area as I had already got all the coinz there and still came up 1 missing. I searched and searched and finally figured out that it was under a palm tree that I failed to lure timebombz to break. Boy do I feel Oldone, I really enjoyed the level and liked that it wasn't too long that I could go back and find all of my mistakes. Thank you for keeping me on my toez.

I tried to make a little "glitter" show at each coin, but if I missed one it might be over on the right hand side in the triangle accessed by the red warp. Would you like me to redo the level making each one more visible??

I tried to make a little "glitter" show at each coin, but if I missed one it might be over on the right hand side in the triangle accessed by the red warp. Would you like me to redo the level making each one more visible?? I believe that the appearance of the Coin cannot be changed ... the GLE establishez the Tile coordinatez (even without a CalcCowID ... which I heartily recommend for every non-EyeCandy logic entered into a CL)and the object is centered within that tile by the Gruntz game engine. So making anything more visible requirez moving the EyeCandy objectz hiding the prize. Rather than modifying (and re-distributing) the CL, I would recommend the sort of Walk-through in HTML that I provided skeleton componentz for, and having an inventory of the Coinz including the XY tile coordinatez. Then the (frustrated, such as myself) solver could cheat and insert a grunt (or several, with toolz, if required) into the game to locate the missing prize(z). Then, knowing the location of the extremely well hidden prize, the solver may re-play and achieve the " PERFECT!" score.

After my spongez helps boomarang get to the silver pyramids, what then? If he follows the silvers up then he gets stuck a the top oh them cause of the arrows? And spongez cant shoot him over arrows cause distance is just out of his reach.

Oldone, I don't think that you need to redo the level. It is PERFECT the way it is!! I was just not as careful as I should have been to break everything and search hidden places. That is part of the Gruntz game and what makes it a challenge. There are plenty of levelz that are in the "frustrating" range. This is not one of them!!

That is part of the Gruntz game and what makes it a challenge. There are plenty of levelz that are in the "frustrating" range. This is not one of them!! If the Coin were in a Hole or Mound, then waving the Shovel around would find it. I am afraid the Coin that I missed was behind a Palm Tree in a path that is not visible ... because of all the treez. So waving a tool would not find it ... only attempting to reach every spot in the forest would acquire it. That is somewhat akin to a certain Designer's CL where a SecretTeleporterTrigger is somewhere in the middle of a few hundred identical tilez ... the solver's task is not to step on every single space, but to locate the Warpstone Piece and bring it to the king. IMHO, a CL should not require breaking hundredz of Rockz/Brickz or filling in hundredz of Holez and digging up hundredz of Moundz ... very time-consuming ... and boring ... but finding the way past obstaclez, etc., on the way to the King's Fortress. My first CL (Yellow Peril...) had the flaw of too many Holez/Moundz/Rockz/Brickz (and too many Coinz under many of them) ... something I have gradually weaned myself away from, in favor of puzzlez. When I have many Holez and/or Moundz in my more recent CLz, the important onez have a visual clue ... the 'wrong' Hole/Mound for the surrounding area. And I provide TimeBombz to speed up the removal of many Rockz/Brickz ... or Roidz to make breaking/digging faster. In other wordz, I now try to make the solving time as short as possible, even in large mapz. This CL has several great mini-puzzlez, and solver's challengez of what to do next (retreating at timez, in order to move onward, for example). It also has the nicety of a small number of Toolz ... and few enemy gruntz to battle. Ala Gaby, it is also very graphically pleasing ... a wonderful 'state bird' rendering. It is definitely of 'normal' density ... the space is required for both the solution of mini-puzzlez and for the visual aspect ... the TimeBomber area needz room for the solver to maneuver. (Nice touch, giving the solver's grunt Boxing Glovez, so he could not be trapped in a corner, by the way!) I also appreciated the surrounding of the 'state bird', in that the Springz grunt could be given a destination far away and not be in danger of walking into a Death Tile. This CL does not have many instancez where one grunt may be set to a long distance task, while the solver usez another grunt for 'detail work' requiring constant direction, but (if there were such opportunitiez) one grunt could be solving a mini-puzzle while Springz was en route to his next destination. Sending one grunt to a destination while I do thingz with another grunt is one way I shorten the solving time of a CL, so I appreciate mini-puzzlez such as moving the Springz grunt from one place to the next. (Now, if only the game engine made Springz intelligent enough to step on a diagonal (backwardz), that would be really neat ... but Springz doez not back-track on his own ... he just stopz, requiring further direction when back-tracking is required.) No, this CL is not frustrating ... except for my failure to achieve a " PERFECT!" score, using a single SAVE slot. When I reach the King's Fortress with the Warpstone Piece, only to find that I missed a Coin (or several Coinz!) I am frustrated, because I usually have to re-start from the beginning ... and in this case I do not have a clue as to where the missed Coin could be, so it will be a day or two before I can try again. BTW, I have replaced the GLE map image with a map complete with EyeCandy, gruntz, prizez, and the like ... at the expense of a larger download and more time required to view it. (My image is 1.503MB, while the GLE image was 211KB. I will re-upload the smaller image, if requested, since some gruntzerz may still be using 56KB dial-up, and do not want to spend seven timez as many minutez acquiring the image. That would be identified as 'small' image in the original post.)

GooRoo, I don't know how you play these CL's with only one save slot. If I had only one save slot to use, that would be FRUSTRATING!!

It frequently is frustrating. That is one reason why I complain about CLz with back-to-back tight timing puzzlez without a 'breather' in between. At my age, I can no longer go through 5 minutez of three or four tight timing puzzlez successfully ... I need an opportunity to do a SAVE after completing each one. Teenagerz still have the impression that they are immortal, and the skillz they have today, they will have for the rest of their (unimaginably long) livez. So they try to design the most difficult puzzlez possible, to thwart other teenagerz ... and frustrate the daylightz out of us "senior citizenz".

The strange thing is that I have yet to see a CL with such puzzlez . I know that some CL'z contains short segmentz where the timing is extremely tight, but I have never seen a puzzle in any CL that have as much as a minutes puzzling without a safe spot (except "silver" puzzlez). Actually, I would hate such a puzzle even as much as the older gruntzerz - given that it is nigh impossible to keep clicking precisely and rapidly for more than half a minute. Personally I would never attempt a CL with less than four available save slotz, as many CL'z are designed to confuse the solver. I would try to find a way of clearing at least one more save slot if I were you.

Thanks for your help earlier. I am near the end and have problems. my spongez has to go down thw west side to stand on the blue switch so springs can cross but if hes not on green swtichs then spongez can't get back to his tile.

The Shovel grunt and the Springz grunt work together ... SpongeGun's work is done in the upper section once he getz the Warp Letter and the Coin ... all he needz to do is stand on his CheckPoint Switch .

"The strange thing is that I have yet to see a CL with such (back to back tight timing) puzzlez." Imho, this CL does have a puzzle like that. It might just be that I'm not seeing the right answer but... The boomerang gruntz has Silver Pryamidz hot on his heels while making his way thru the SPz; while at the same time spongez is trying to fire his gun to assist boomerang over the arrowz. That'z really hard for me to do. I'm just going to have to give up, I think, unless I'm wrong about the solution. Regardless, there are lots of Clz that I have seen with the above stated difficulty. Don't know how you haven't seen them.

In truth, SpongeGun is on his CheckPoint Switch when he assistz Boomerang from the BOTS over the Arrow to the Coin . So there is no tight timing involved at all ... just SAVE as soon as Boomerang makez it through the Silver Pyramidz to the BOTS . Of course, on a default screen resolution monitor (or even my 800X600 pixel view) there may be a bit scrolling in moving through the maze ... but the timing is not tight.
