A little after 9:15AM today (this post is actually at 11:50AM, PDST) our oldest cat passed away. She had been in failing health, barely eating at all for the last couple of weeks, and barely moving from her favorite spot. Then yesterday she took to sprawling in the middle of the dining room floor, and when moved into her cat box, would soon return to the middle of the dining room floor. At least she is no longer suffering. I will find a place to bury her in our back yard, in the shade of one of our fir trees. It is hard losing a pet, even one that was not one to purr at the drop of a hat.

GooRoo, I am very sorry for your loss. I have had many pets (cats, dogs, fish and a bird) throughout my life and have gone through the sadness of losing them. It is strange because you don't know what the pet is feeling or thinking. You never want to see them suffer. I'm sure that Chloe is in a better place.

One year ago, I lost my dog ... half a year later - cat. They were by my side since I was born, so it's kinda weird when they're gone They both were 14 years old Hopefully, they weren't suffering - they had a kidneys failure. Therefore, they were being poisoned gradually, and they felt more sleepy with each day and finally - they lost their consciousness. I think that's the same with your pet ( because of the age and your description ), so I can console you - it's very possible that he wasn't suffering at all!

Aw. Bad news. I lost two dogs some years ago and I liked them. I know how hard it is to face such a situation. I'm sorry for it, GooRoo (and all of you as well )

That is so sad. I always cry at this kind of thing. We put so much love and heart into our animals. I wish they could live longer lifespans. There are graves on every piece of property we've ever owned. I'm very sorry for you in your sadness in losing her. Bye Chole, we'll see you later.
and the lion shall lay down with the lamb. (metaphorical or not)

I'm sorry to hear of Chloe's passing, GooRoo. Although she may not have been the most affectionate of pets, I'm sure she was a loyal and faithful one. I have lost too many kitties myself, almost too many to count, so I understand your heartache over losing Chloe. May the Spirit comfort your heart.
