yep the server was down for some hourz... Given the heat wave in Southern California and the strain it is putting on the power generation grid, I would say that we are likely to experience similar outages again in the relatively near future. You can't run servers w/o electricity!

Peekaboo, you can either press F12 and the image will appear at the Gruntz folder Do you mean the folder in which Gruntz.exe is stored? ... or the current folder open (within Gruntz)? I received ten screen grabs of 600X450 a few minutez ago, and have them all SAVEd to my hard drive. I really liked the namez you used for them ... very logical and descriptive! The next thing is for me to upload them to the web host, and then see what they look like on my 1024X768 screen. If one lookz good, they all will look good! Edit: Ah, too bad! They do not expand to fit the 1024X768 Forum screen, and look very strange centered both horizontally and vertically, with the green default background behind them. BTW, those ten screen imagez at 600X450 totaled about 728KB, which put me (temporarily) over my limit ... so (in case I am away from the computer for some time) it would be a good idea to send only 1 to 3 at a time.

Duh! Those were ten great JPEGz! What is the beauty of the JPG format? Easy to re-size!!! I just Opened each 600X450 image in ULead PhotoImpact, and did a re-size to 1024X768 and SAVEd it right back ... repeat ten timez and all of them are done! I will be uploading them to my web host right after I post this message ... should be ready for viewing in about ten minutez (the 600X450 imagez are available right now). So here is what I have available at this time, thanks to Gui:

Increasing the size of any image format is risky - you're adding detail that was never there. It'll appear blocky.

Is this the new symbol for new postz? If so IMO some of them are out of place or missing from where they should be (e.g.- the GLE board should have one, since I posted yesterday )

Is this the new symbol for new postz? Yes, that is the new symbol (for now, until I find something better). I have noticed several timez that a rather old post was showing up as 'New' to me. That was a 'bug' in ProBoards Version 3 that they claimed had been eradicated in PBV4. (I guess not. )

Increasing the size of any image format is risky - you're adding detail that was never there. It'll appear blocky. Apparently PhotoImpact does an excellent job of increasing the size, while retaining the 'look' of the original ... at least, they look fine to me ... except for my own very old screen grab of "Toobz". That one displays less than 1024X768 pixelz, in spite of that being its attributez. I will probably see about replacing that one ... when (and if?) time permitz.

Right now, I am trying out the Tilez #1 from Miniature Masterz for 'light', and from "TroubleInTheTropicz" for 'dark'. As anyone can plainly see (thank you, GoDaddy! and ProBoards!) it is really easy for me to select a different background for these postz and the Board backgroundz. I can use any Gruntz Tile as a repeatable 'texture' for these backgroundz, so feel free to suggest other Tilez to experiment with, to find the most universally readable combination. P.S. With the stable web host, I can now accept your own graphic creationz to use as your Avatar in this Forum. And I will begin making Avatarz that "went lost" with the demise of Neron Hosting ... if someone can jog my memory of which onez were in use.

I'm a party pooper for sure and hate to say anything. This print background disturbs my eyes and interfers with viewing the words and imagez. Is there a more moderate one you could use? PS: Yes those are excellent screenshots. Impressed.

We posted at almost the same time, so you may not have had a chance to read mine, asking for suggestionz for other background texturez.

Oh ok. This pattern looks like rough outdoor carpeting to me. Maybe it's the intermingling of the colors that are offkey but really can't explain it too well. Just know that I am squinting and concentrating on reading the words, as if distracted.
Edit: Maybe it's too dark. Your post above is a good color and nicely able to read.
Edit again: No it's not quite there. The color is good but above is too wavy-ish. Like the ocean waves or something. Geez, stuff like this did'nt use to bother me. Must be a wuss.

There are 14 opening screenz (one of them duplicated) available at this time, thanks to Gui: The numberz correspond to the numberz in the Gruntz.Rez file. So I have all of them, now, in JPG format ... just need to upload 02 to the web host. As a result of this little exercise, I may be able to replace a few duplicated Tilez with those of my own manipulation (not creation!) to provide more variety in Gruntz mapz.

I think duplicated tilez could have some use. When Space Station Beta is released, you can see an example. When two tilez look exactly the same, I always use the first one. So, if I want, I can make the other with a different use/attribute (that I did in SP Beta). BTW, you won't change any tilez 1-16, will you? These tilez may look nearly the same, but they aren't! Only the kitchen tilez 1-8 look exactly the same. Tilez 10-16 from Rocky Roadz and Gruntziclez aren't used in CLz because they look odd; most people put #9.

Check the Gruntz Level Editor Manual Tilez 17-36 thread for an example of what I mean about duplicated Tilez ... and missing onez.
