The only additional planez possible to make in gruntz are back planez. To do this you need to select "Plane", then "Add". In the dialog boxez add this information (it is VERY important that you add the information properly).
Name- Back
Image Setz- ACTION
Attributes check X-Wrapping check Y-Wrapping
Tiles- Width: 32 Height: 32
Dimensions- Width: you may instert any value within 256 Height: you may instert any value within 256
Movement- X-Percent: 100 Y-Percent: 100
Misc.- Fill Color: 128 Z coord: 0
Afterwardz you can bring up the tile menu (warning! If the tile menu doesn't show any tilez, you have done something wrong!). Now you should be able to see all of the tilez normally used and add them as normal. Note that you can't put any logicz onto the back plane.
If you are working with High on Sweetz, High Rollerz, or Gruntz in Space, you will need to alter the current back plane. To access the plane switching area, click "World", then "Planez". If you select the back plane in any of these worldz, you get a special new tile set to work with .
When you create a back plane, you may notice that the planez have suddenly swapped and you can no longer see the action plane (although it still behavez as normal ). In order to fix this nasty little problem, you must create the back plane first. Then you must delete the action plane and then remake the action plane (remember to check the main plane box only). NOTE: This isn't actually true. All you have to do to fix this is to go to World -> Planes, and then use the Re-Order option to switch the numbers of the planes (0 to 1, and 1 to 0).
Warning! When you attempt to make a back plane of a level set that already has a back plane, do NOT try making tilez that show the back plane on the back plane! (such as open holez, space areaz). The resultz (as I have tested) are absolutly, horrificly, terrible!! (I may post CloudCity303 later when web host problemz are fixed so any can see why the resultz look so horrifically awful ).
In order to see your back plane in graphicz setz that do not originally have a back plane, you need to use invisible tilez. To make one, select a tile, press Ctrl and i. It is advised that you make an entire template out of invisible tilez to save hassle .

Using the information in this thread, I expect there to be some two-plane "Rocky Roadz" and "Gruntziclez" puzzles in the near future. I wonder if there may be 'special tiles' for those graphics sets to use in back planes, as mentioned for the 'usual' graphics sets that already supported them. Clever Designers have already taken advantage of the 'bugs' in the game engine, so why not "back planes"?

- Rocky Roadz ... only Holez will display a back plane that you create
- Gruntziclez ... only Holez will display a back plane that you create
- Trouble In The Tropicz ... see 3DLava ... Lava fields may be replaced with a back plane
- High On Sweetz ... a back plane exists ... replaceable
- High Rollerz ... a back plane exists ... replaceable
- Honey, I Shrunk The Gruntz! ... only Holez will display a back plane that you create
- The Miniature Masterz ... only Holez will display a back plane that you create
- Gruntz In Space ... a back plane exists ... replaceable
"Bad Water" (areas 1 and 2), the "Griddle" (area 6) and Quicksand (area 7) may replace the 'plain' tilez with invisible ones, adding to what a back plane would show.

I apparently have not paid that much attention to what happens when a Grunt falls into (or is mushed into) a Hole, only recognizing the "Aaah!" (or similar exclamation) when it happens, and have not noted what may appear behind. Then again, in graphics sets without a back plane, there would be nothing to see, and in those WITH a back lane, I have not paid attention.
Which brings up the question as to what happens when a Mound is turned into a Hole, or one appears under a (Giant) Rock. Would Tile Properties of 'invisible' apply to the appearing Tile? And if a Hole were made 'invisible', would you even see the Hole?
For the answer, we should revisit 3DLava and observe what is seen in a Hole. (Or any puzzle where a back plane exists would answer the question.)

Okay! I have found the answer! In "Asteroidz" (Gruntz In Space) with a back plane, the Holez show the back plane image. So my evaluation stands ... adding a back plane to Levelz without one will show the back plane through the Holez. We see nothing beyond a Hole in a Rocky Roadz Level (for instance) because there is no back plane. We have not been non-observant ... there was simply nothing to see!

However, the holez in Gruntz in Space have an invisible background precisely because they're meant to be used with a back plane, as with High on Sweetz and High Rollerz. In Rocky Roadz, for instance, holez do not have an invisible portion in their tile drawing at all (you'd see a white background on holez in the GLE if they did)
I'm certain that adding a back plane to Rocky Roadz wouldn't make it so you could see through the holez at all, you'd still need to add invisible tiles to see it.
