This Forum was started on December 3rd, 2003 ... about four yearz after the game of Gruntz was no longer being actively marketed by Monolith Productions, Inc.
Thanks to MPI making the Gruntz Level Editor available, there are 15 timez as many 'Custom' Levelz as there are 'Standard' Levelz! (Gaby alone has produced about three timez as many puzzlez as were distributed with the game!)
Who will produce the first new Gruntz puzzle of 2013?

It's great to see this forum up and running for so long! I might be catching up with some of the older levels in a few weeks, hopefully. The craving for Gruntz never completely goes away!

I haven't been able to play Gruntz for the last two months. My desktop that I play Gruntz on died a couple of months ago. I thought it was only the video card fried, but when I installed a new one, the machine refused to POST. I've got it diagnosed down to the problem being the power supply, the motherboard, or the processor. But I haven't taken the time to diagnose it any further. In the meantime, this laptop that I'm relegated to won't run Gruntz. So until I get one of my desktops back up and running, I'm not going to be able to do any Gruntzing. I'll just have to watch from the sidelines.

Happy anniversary! I hope that with the Dizgruntled incoming and with my tileset being released, there will be some actual activity happening here once again! Speaking of my tileset, I still haven't heard any opinions about it...

December 3, 2014 will mark the 13th anniversary of this Forum. However, activity has dwindled down next to nothing ... few new Custom Levelz submitted ... even my own efforts have dropped to mainly just checking new posts (for submission activity ... almost none any more). My attempt to encourage new CLz (the 8 PacMan, one for each graphicz area ... and MsPacMan's map CLz) has not been successful. Even my co-Administrator Gaby has not been active for months. I don't want to delete the Forum, but without submissions, it will be nothing but a reference site for newcomers to be able to download Custom Levelz, and I will have to cut back from my (current) multiple check-ins each day, to just once a day ... just before my bedtime. So after making this post, I will not check in again until I am ready for bed each night.

I'm sorry, man.
It's not that I'm not interested in playing the game anymore, it's that I only play the game when making a commentary for a Gruntz let's play, and it will stay that way since these let's plays won't be as good if I knew beforehand what to do.
If there was anything I could do to help get this game more known, I would. But sadly there is not.
Sadly, the game will just go deeper into obscurity and there is nothing any of us can do about it. People don't care about old obscure games like this, I'm sorry but it's the sad truth.

I've had no free time lately... a few weeks ago I even started up the GLE and started a map, posted a topic on the forum, but realized I wouldn't have time to finish it and deleted the thread shortly after. If only this game had more modding capability to it, I'm sure it would be so much more popular with the higher replay value... oh well. I actually just read the topic about the game on Steam again and that is the only thing I can think of to extend this game's playerbase and keep it alive. But I'm not sure if we could actually get it on Steam.

Well, I just paid for hosting for another month, and in August it is time to renew the domain. So finances as well as (lack of) activity may well decide the Forum's fate. While ProBoards is free, the web site data storage is not. And without on-line data access, the ability to download the Custom Levela already in existence, the supporting images, the GLE and whatever walk-throughs exist will no longer be available.
The monthly cost is only $5.99, and even the domain renewal is only about $10.00, so money is not the main problem ... the lack of activity is. At my age, there are only so many hours available, and there are so many other things to spend my time on. For instance, this is the first time I have logged in here today ... I am working on Square Dance animations for the Advanced (A-2) level ... and discovered I needed to fix some problems because Callerlab has rearranged teaching order and moved some moves into other programs. So my Mainstream, Plus and Advanced (A-1) stuff is inaccurate (since my work in 2007). So Gruntz has become very much a "back burner" interest for me, without CL submissions.

It can't be helped. My game design course will continue until next year August, so I won't be taking on any side-projects such as Gruntz until that is finished. I do intend to put the assets I've archived to good use, however. And I'd also like to look at making the game portable in the same future...

Does that mean I have to download ALL the custom levels while I still can and it will be too late soon? I wanna download custom levels when I'm interested in playing them, but I think I'm gonna have to download all the custom levels available before the end of the year. I will do that soon since I know it's gonna be too late soon. But as far as I know there is no way to download them all at once, so I don't think it's gonna take within a day to find them all and download them.

I can always donate to continue the site's existence, if it's necessary. I really think the forum should stay up, if at least as an archive of all the CLs that were created over the years.

No, I will not even consider taking it down until some time in August, 2015 ... when the domain itself needs to be renewed at the end of August, 2015. So there is no need to panic. Of course, that is still dependent on me still "sucking air"! I am sure my wife will not continue to pay for it, if I am no longer around. Furthermore, if I finish the animations for Square Dancing Advanced (A-2) moves, I may get back to creating Custom Levelz ... which will extend the life of the Forum a bit more.

Since you brought that up... is there a way to take over the forum and continue paying for it in the event you are no longer able to? I would be ready to do it if need be.
