Thanks a lot.
Most of the sounds are from the classic Super Mario Bros, and two are from the first Portal... I hope that nobody is going to get mad at me for using them.
This tile madness is caused by the fact that I was originally going with the idea that those tilez are supposed to be used differently than they originally were in the default tilesetz. I won't deny though that this placement is really crazy the way it is now! Some of those tilez are facing completely different directions than they did in the original... what was I thinking?
I think that the major problems here are:
- No necessity to use transition tilez when going from clear ground to water or space... made with simplicity in mind, and meant to help in making very dense puzzles.
- No use of plateaus... at least yet. I am actually thinking of including them, but I really wish I could do that without sacrificing some of the coloured fences. Being able to go outside the boundaries of 329 tilez would really do wonders here.
- When I was starting to run out of available tilez, I started using whatever was left for whatever I wanted to make at the time... hence, for example, tilez that are supposed to mark places where wormholez go; some of the stairs tilez were recycled for the blue wormhole ones!
I think I would need to rearrange everything and decide what to do with some of the tilez... again, being able to go outside 329 would really help here. Or alternatively, being able to recycle all those invalid tilez:
85-89
96
141
182-189
210-212
219-220
267-269 (not completely invalid, but not available in almost all vanilla tilesetz)
295-300
It's a whole 30 tilez to be used... if that's possible of course.
Anyway, I'll try doing something about those crazy tilez as soon as possible.
EDIT: Okay, I can already confirm that it will definitely not be possible to make water tilez match perfectly with the way they are designed. Basically, I am left with a bunch of tilez that I essentially have no use for, and they're just begging to be recycled for something else. So in the end, this tileset is going to be unique in the way it uses the tilez no matter what, and all we can do is to create levelz for it... remembering that it will be impossible to convert a normal Gruntz In Space level into Virtual Reality level without some incompatibilities going on. Unless, of course, I was to alter the design in places for the sake of compatibility... I'll see about that tomorrow.
Tomalla, do you use Skype or anything like that? It would be very handy to be able to contact you at any given moment.
