Since I recently bought a Surface Pro, I thought I'd have a go at playing Gruntz without a mouse Well, I can say it actually workz rather well, as long as you use the stylus. Touch is playable, but tricky because of right-clicking, which means you have to tap and hold to move a grunt (the stylus has a button for right-click). Currently up to Stage 4 of Trouble in the Tropicz, playing with the stylus only 99% of the time. (Note: no Gruntz doesn't work in Windows 8. I'm using a Windows XP virtual machine to play.)

Well, that's interesting. I've already tried to play Gruntz with my Bamboo, but it keeps just shaking the in-game mouse. When you tap and hold the stylus for a right click, is it registered as a left click at first? It could be nice to work out a solution for the left-right-click question, especially for DizGruntled: How could the game be played with touch gestures? Scrolling should be okay with standard swipe gestures. Use a tool or toy: This is getting more difficult because of the lack of Mouse-Over Effects (e.g. the animated shovel that appears as a mouseover effect of a hole when your active grunt has got a shovel). That is clearly something worth thinking about.

When you tap and hold the stylus for a right click, is it registered as a left click at first? Nothing is registered until the stylus has been lifted from the screen - if it was held long enough, it registers as a right-click The cursor does appear when using the stylus, so you do get mouseover animationz.

The cursor does appear when using the stylus, so you do get mouseover animationz. Okay, that is good! But for a broader approach with just touching since afaik most touch devices do not offer a stylus, it is more complicated: They would need to offer that "proximity to the screen" thing and even more complicated: The so-called "fat finger problem", which means that your finger isn't transparent so that you cannot see what yuo are trying to touch. For the use with a stylus it could be interesting if there are screens that recognize the two ends of the stylus so that one could use one as left and one as right click.
