Firstly I would like to say happy new year. It is 2014 in my country. In celebration of the new year I think we should do something we haven't done before. I think we should talk about the best and worst levels released this year. As for me, I have only played two levels this year. (Sweet Magic and my own latest level) And I enjoyed Sweet Magic a lot, even though I have yet to finish it, it's still a fun and creative level, so I'd gladly say it's the best level of 2013. The idea of using wands in those circumstances is a great idea and it really was executed well. As for worst, well, the only level I played besides my own is Sweet Magic, and it's not bad at all. So I can't really say what the worst level is What about you guys? What levels do you think are the best and worst of the year? I think we should the new year by looking back at the levels that were released in 2013 and talk about them.

So apparently nobody is interested in discussing this. Ah, I'm sorry about that, I thought it would be a fun discussion.
It's ok, I can deal with that.

So apparently nobody is interested in discussing this. Ah, I'm sorry about that, I thought it would be a fun discussion. It's ok, I can deal with that. Such a topic can only cause hard feelings, for the person whose Custom Level is said to be "the worst". The Designer of "the best" may appreciate the comment, or simply not care at all. Those that are not mentioned either way will tend to place their effort in 'the worst' category ... since it is not mentioned as one of 'the best'. I say, let each individual judge for themselves, and keep their opinion to themselves. Critiques generally become more and more abrasive as the object of the critique does not change what is criticized, so more harm than good comes from 'evaluations'.

Actually, I disagree with you that calling something bad will only cause harm.
It can actually help someone improve since they can take the criticism into consideration. I mean I have improved my YouTube videos because people pointed out problems they had with videos I made in the past.
I am ok with only mentioning the best levels though. Yeah, only focusing on the positive can make for a fun discussion.
As for the last paragraph on your post. Yeah, I guess that's a fair point.

While I appreciate the positive commentz on my level, I have to agree with GooRoo in that picking the worst level is going to cause more harm than good, and that each person should judge levelz as they wish. There are many different tastez and different level stylez. What I'd suggest instead is voting for categoriez, such as 'Toughest Puzzlez', 'Most Creative', 'Piece of Cake', 'Toughest Timing' (this, for example, would be a bad one, but it's nowhere near being named the worst level). This actually sounds fun now that I think of it, if only we had more people around... and, consequently, levelz...

That is part of the problem ... in 2013 there were only ten new Custom Questz and one Battlez puzzle. So the Battlez CL gets best, worst, hardest, easiest, etc. etc. etc.
The ends of Gruntz' life span certainly could contain the very best and very worst of Custom Levelz ... early, because the entire concept was new; latest, because there are so few examples. Over the course of 14+ years of Gruntz Custom Levelz there are a few that really stand out, for difficulty (yet fairness) and innovation. For innovation, I would put forth Guenter's "The Gunslinger". For heart-pumping action, constantly under duress, I offer "A World Of Sweetz" by Paul. Pick your own category, and mention 'the best' ... kudos to those designers that gave us the puzzle, even if they are no longer involved in order to see the lauds.

A World of Sweetz is what we could call 'the' level, indeed... I still have a rather large level on the hold, I hope I remember to test it when I'm home in a few dayz... and also that I remember how to solve it!

There is something very important you all should know. Criticism isn't there to "harm" anyone or hurt people's feelings. If people have good reasons for the negative things they say, it can actually help improve. I have no idea how I can explain it better. I already tried.
But ok then, maybe this thread was a bad idea. Ah well at least I tried.
As you guys have pointed out it's also hard to say what the best levels are. I made this thread because I wanted to make some discussions.
I will do my best to keep this community active. Even though I no longer make levels, I still will gladly play some and tell what I think in posts.
