Hey all. After digging through the Gruntz executable with a hex editor, I found a list of confirmation messagez for the cheat codez.
I noticed that some of these messagez have no known cheat codez linked to them, so I decided to make a comprehensive cheat code table:

Major cheat codez disable saving, while Minor onez do not.
Cells containing (?) indicate an unknown field.
Newly discovered cheat codez: mpwawawawawawa, mpfps, mplith, mplogo, mpnoinfo, mpobjects, mppos, mpgoble, mpscorpio, mptexastea, mpcrash

It would be great to fill in the missing information on this table, but I doubt it will be possible without decryption of the CHEATZ.TXT file within the Gruntz REZ archive. I will post a topic on XeNTaX for help with decryption.

mpwawawawawawa, mpcheatcheatcheat and mpgoble may have no effect on the game, but I've left them unknown until I can confirm so myself.

To use a cheat code, press enter, type it in and then press enter again. You should get a note at the top of the screen pertaining to the cheat code you just activated. They are very useful for testing your own maps, however using them to complete others' custom levels is discouraged.

It'd be great if I could help you figure out what those cheat codes are, but I don't know the first thing about programming, so I wouldn't know how to figure it out.

A cheat code where I can make puddles? I don't see how that would come in handy, considering mpilovethisgame spawns grunts so much faster than a puddle does. I guess maybe we can use it to distract the blue gooer enemy grunts.

That's what I thought, the messages for the two goo-related codez make them seem redundant. Though, the effectz containing (?) are just a speculated from the message.

I feel like I'm missing out on a big joke here. The creditz acknowledge "wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa", and typing mpwawawawawawa returns "WA WA WA WA WA WA!"...
I don't get it, is this a character's catchphrase or something? It counts as a major cheat which disables the saving ability, but doesn't play a sound or seemingly do anything.

Oh yeah, I did notice that the executable tries to load GAME_WAWA along with the message, but that asset no longer exists. Maybe it was the classic "sad trombone" sound.
Although, I think the onomatopoeia to describe that sound doesn't match "WA WA WA WA WA WA!".
I would write it like "Wa-wa-wa wa-a-a~".

As for recovering codes, I believe they are stored in GRUNTZ.REZ>STATEZ\CREDITZ\PALETTEZ\CHEATZ.TXT in an encrypted format (the file size is too big for a palette file, and not divisible by 3). I can tinker around in Cheat Engine's memory view in hopes of finding the decrypted version, but that might require a breakpoint, and this game is hard to debug because it pauses whenever the window is out of focus.

Since you seem to be using all sorts of mysterious hacking programs on the game ( ), I was wondering if you would be able to recover a certain information. When a Warpstone is gotten via a megaphone, Grunt using the megaphone says nothing. I was wondering if there is possibly some voice asset that the game tries to use but it's missing?

It seems you have a few more Cheat codes than I do, with slightly different descriptions. Your arrangement is rather haphazard, so I prefer my organization, but may try to combine the two when I complete the project of correcting broken thread links.

mptimer is only useful in a Custom Level employing the timer, such as Paul's ""A World Of Sweetz". Then it will turn off the timer, and the solver can relax a bit.

The game loads the entire VOICES\MEGAPHONEZ folder within the GRUNTZ.VRZ archive when running the megaphone process, and presumably uses the item's ID to pick which audio file to use. I can try inserting WARPSTONEZPHONEZA.WAV and WARPSTONEZPHONEZB.WAV into that folder using the REZ Patcher and see if the game tries to load them, but that's about it.

Fair enough. I just organised them according to the message order from within the executable. But if I could suggest some amendments:

• mpgerberz should be mpgerber, and mpmalibugrandpriz should be mpmalibugrandprix.
• All cheat codez work in all modes, including mpbluebrick/mpredbrick/mpgoldbrick/mpblackbrick.
• Only major cheat codez disable saving.

Your experience may be the reason why the Grunt "has laryngitis" when calling for the Warpstone ... the game designers had the same problem. Or perhaps it is just that in your example, there was no Grunt with empty hands to receive the rock!

I found WAWA.WAV in the Gruntz Demo's REZ archive. It sounds like a fast, 6-beat synth sample with alternating pitches. I'm going to try inserting it into the Gruntz REZ archive to see if it is loaded when I input the mpwawawawawawa cheat code.

EDIT: Yup, it is! The mpwawawawawawa cheat code's effect was to play this audio file, and seemingly nothing else.
I've uploaded the patch I used to insert WAWA.WAV into the Gruntz REZ archive, for anyone who's interested.
