I was just informed that GoDaddy has changed the domain's IP address, so I am concerned that we may have some broken links. If anyone notices such broken links, please bring them to staff attention in this thread.

Apparently we are back to the same problem I had when I first switched to GoDaddy when Neron Hosting went away ... their software on the new server does not understand .wwd as a valid file extension. I will post a message regarding the problem. Let's see how long it takes them to rectify it!

Apparently this server change has caused significant problems everywhere. My attempt to 'chat' to resolve our problem was 'rewarded' by something like "due to heavy traffic, all our chat lines are busy. Try again later." ... and I gave up after about a dozen tries. I am not about to pay for a long-distance call when their web site indicates "unknown wait time" for telephone service. And they have NO e-mail support! Everything else seems to be working except for the download links ... due to what is apparently their ignorance of the existence (and validity!) of the .wwd (wap world) file extension.

That both sucks and is insanely unprofessional on their part...
If no other solution can be found, I suppose it's necessary to replace the raw WWD files with ZIP-ped ones and change the links?

That particular chore would involve over 550 threads, both 'Standard' and 'Custom' ... and some 35 Battlez threads. Far more work than I am willing to put forth. I am going to try again now, and hope that the activity has died down enough that I am able to reach someone at GoDaddy and get the problem resolved.

If GoDaddy will prove unreachable, or if they will give out some standard excuse for why they can't fix it (which is very likely), I can take the time to edit the threads... but since I can't edit the site's contents, I'm unable to ZIP the WWD files.

I managed to at least enter the chat queue, starting out with "estimated wait time is 5 minutes" ... refreshed after two minutes, then changed to 0 minutes (five times!) now back up to 1 minute (five times), and as I am typing this ... 2 minutes (twice!). Twenty five minutes so far, and no response yet.

However I won't be uploading any of them to my web server as I only use it for important webpages. But I am willing to send all of these in the same ZIP file. But keep in mind that I don't have any levels released this year as I downloaded all the levels last year.

Well, I spent over two hours waiting in the 'chat' queue before Shawn came on to start the chat. Spent almost an hour in chat, to find that I am supposed to be able to add the 'custom' file extension of "WWD" by creating a special file with esoteric code in it to say that WWD is an application MIME type, with a sub-type of wwd. It is almost midnight now, and I am tired and very frustrated with the long wait, and the failure of GoDaddy to port over the code that was entered with the previous IP server. So I will catch some zzz's and try to make the fix (that should never have been required) tomorrow after I finish the "Honey, do..." stuff.

ZIPping is not a very good option anyway. Look at some of the very old Quests available from Paul's Gruntz Page as self-extracting ZIP files and see the bloat involved. About 96KBof overhead, and for a WWD that is only 12KB stand-alone, that is unacceptable. That is a MicroSloth type solution ... pump up the system requirements, enabling the 'need' for a new version of ... everything! All of the 'improvements' made since 1999 have had what result? Programs no longer working (like Gruntz) on the new system. I adhere to the variation of KISS ... Keep It Small, Stupid!

I just performed the action that is supposed to correct the download problem of the 'unknown' file extension WWD. I will now test it to see if it worked ... everyone else is free to do their own testing.
Well, it doesn't work ... yet. There may be some sort of waiting period before the 'fix' is accepted an in use by the web server. I'll try again after lunch, and if it is not fixed, will attempt another 'chat' to get assistance in putting this Forum back into full usability.

Unknown filetype huh, that's really stupid. Hopefully there'll be a workaround for this on their part... if it comes down to having to ZIP the levels, perhaps just save them in groups - I'm sure people wouldn't mind that since their size is so small, and it'd take at least 25 to fill up 1 MB to download. That, of course, only makes the uploading easier, since there are still hundreds of links to be edited... I can help with fixing them if it comes down to that.

Maybe this GoDaddy help article on adding MIME types will help, but I'm unsure.

Maybe this GoDaddy help article on adding MIME types will help, but I'm unsure. That is what I did several hours ago ... but it has had no effect. Earlier this morning I attempted to get into 'chat' again on the problem, but received an "all our representatives are busy due to heavy workload" type response. I have a little less than two hours now to try again before it is time to leave for my amtch. Well, same "high traffic level" message. I will try again when I return home from , vehicle refueling and haircut five hours or so from now.

At 5:31PM (PDST) I received this message when I tried to enter 'chat': We are currently experiencing high chat volumes, all of our agents are busy assisting other customers, please call (480) 505-8877 for immediate help.
