The power outage in this area fried the battery on this laptop, and I need to replace it. That's enough of an unanticipated expense, but I also received an e-mail indicating that GoDaddy charged me for another year of Domain rights ... when I was already paid-up to August, 2016! Non-refundable, they say. I had my doubts about the survival of interest in Gruntz, and thought that one more year would see the end of the web site. Now, I have reason to want the site to remain viable for TWO years!

Real shame to hear about the battery. It was a long time coming from what you said, but still... Is the forum in danger? Should we help out somehow? I could offer monetary support if necessary.

From what GooRoo said, not for at least two more years. If there is still interest, we can always help with the costs to keep it running.

From what GooRoo said, not for at least two more years. If there is still interest, we can always help with the costs to keep it running. I just received a quote this morning for the battery ... approximately $69 ... combined with my wife's birthday on September 11th (boo to the terrorists who flew airplanes into the World Trade Center that day!) that is my entire monthly discretionary funds for the month. (It could have been worse(!) since my first quote (without a part number for reference) was closer to $120.)

Dollars have been getting quite expensive for me as well - from 1.60 to 3.60 over the course of four years! But as long as we have enough interest in keeping the forum up, I don't think we'll run into any issues.

Very sorry to hear about that, GooRoo. But let me assure you there is always interest in Gruntz, and I'm sure everybody would like to help keep this website alive. There's so much important information about Gruntz here and so many custom levelz made by talented designerz that we must ensure it's preserved.
