Gruntz error codes ... what do they mean?

I am receiving a Gruntz ABEND with no displayed error, but the Windows dialog shows a code of "1033".

Does anyone have the tools (or expertise) to provide a listing of Gruntz error codes and their causes?

This strikes me as something to be added to the Gruntz Level Editor Manual.

Okay, here's the start of the Error Code Explanation Table.

Error Code	Reason for the error	Corrective action
1006	Unable to find a trigger ID that matches the Smarts value of this Switch.	Use the ID of this TileTriggerSwitch in a Tile(Secret)Trigger logic Rects field.
1007	Unable to find a trigger switch ID for the Switch that was just pressed/depressed. Probably preceeded by "No switch logic found for switch at: x=####, y=####	Add a TileTriggerSwitch logic to the switch tile at the specified location. Remember to do a CalcCowID on that new logic!
1023	Something IMPORTANT is missing	Check for an ExitTrigger, a Warpstone Piece and a solver's Grunt
1033	Toggling Bridge Tile w/o logic	Create a TileTrigger, filling in Points, Damage and Health or ... change the Tile type
?	TileTrigger or TileTriggerSwitch on an invalid tile	(Re-)Move the logic ... or place a valid Tile with the logic
?	Switch without any Trigger Tile	Remove the Switch (if unnecessary) or ... add the Switch ID to at least one TileTrigger logic
?	More than 15 gruntz from one team	Change the Team number of one Grunt at a time
?	Invalid Tile replacement value for CoveredPowerup/TileSecretTrigger/Giant Rock; Invalid Tool/Toy/Powerup, etc.	Change the replacement Tile number; place a valid code for the Powerup value.
?	GruntStartingPoint on a Death Tile	Change the Tile number under the Object; move the Objecte.

- Applying an impossibly low value to a toggling bridge (resulting in the game not being able to render it going up and down this fast)

I don't remember the exact numbers, but I could list the kinds of errors that could be checked for their numbers:

- Putting more than 15 gruntz from one team on the map
- Not attaching any TileTriggers to a TileTriggerSwitch
- Attempting to step on a switch with no TileTriggerSwitch
- Putting a TileTrigger or TileTriggerSwitch on an invalid tile
- Using invalid values for things like CoweredPowerup, Gruntz' tools/toys, TileSecretTrigger...
- Applying an impossibly low value to a toggling bridge (resulting in the game not being able to render it going up and down this fast)
- Attempting to put a GruntStartingPoint on an invalid type of tile (spikes, arrows or anything that is bound to kill a grunt)
- Attempting to use a teleporter to move a grunt onto an invalid tile (see above)

I'm sure there's more, but that's what I can recall right now.

I've never had an error message in this scenario, the teleporter would simply disappear without my Grunt going anywhere.

As I work on new Gruntz puzzles in the future, I plan to intentionally make errors in order to generate ABEND Dialog boxes with the full text associated with the error code(s). I will place the results into the table which is the second post in this thread.

Any Designer is encouraged to do the same in order to provide reference material for (potential) new Gruntz Designers. (It may even help some experienced ones!)

In my migration (back!) to my XP laptop, I received error code "1123" on a Quest that worked fine on this Windows 10 laptop.

I found this thread (Ta-Da!) and thought the answer was here ... NOT! There are several entries with descriptions, but the error code was unknown.

Do any of you "young bucks" have an answer for error code 1123?

Which (of course) leads me to want as much information on error codes and their causes as possible. Please add in any information you may have discovered in your game play.

Edit: Stupid error! I somehow got the original layout of the Quest, NOT! the version ready to be tested! Where THAT came from I have no idea.

Anyway I now know that the error code means "Something IMPORTANT is missing!" such as an ExitTrigger, the Warpstone Piece, or a solver's Grunt.
