If you are still around (or anyone else reading this for that matter), shoot me a PM, I've successfully played with swietymiki a couple times and it would be nice to have more people to play with!

What is Game Ranger? I do not like the image of something drilling holez into my firewall at all...

It's a program made to allow hosting multiplayer rooms for selected games, which include Gruntz. It also comes with friend list and chat room features, and it didn't drill any holez into my firewall (yet). It might do more things, but I didn't bother exploring since it's not relevant for my purposez.

How does running any certified program that uses internet put your computer in danger? It's definitely not malicious and I've had it on my PC for years.
Incidentally, I highly doubt there would be a computer virus searching for ports unlocked by 3rd party software, especially when there are much more effective ways of infecting PCs, like documented operating system gaps or exploits.

I am definitely not an ultimate expert in network security, but I definitely know that there are many ways to have programs talk over the internet that were made for local use only, that dig large holes in the whole security concept. Many pitfalls are not easy to spot, so such a program doesn't have to be malicious, it could be pure stupidity as well. And there is much stupidity in networking software around today.

Sorry to say that but you really feel like you do not have an idea about you are talking about. Your loss.
