Anyone who stays a little longer on this forum will notice how many staff members we have in comparison to the amount of "normal" users. The more inquisitive ones will learn that most of them are inactive... and have been for many years, in fact. There are 4 Global Moderators, 1 Moderator and 1 Administrator that just no longer serve their function. Sorted by the length of their inactivity, the staff members are as follows: IdleAl , GoldenGrunt , Gamer , FriedGruntzaholic , Bea and Gaby .In my opinion there should be a separate rank (or ranks) for those people, that would mostly serve as a honorary title, while most of their current moderating rights should be disabled. They contributed a lot in the early days of this forum, sure, but keeping their privileges forever might bring more harm than good. Even if these people came back, I highly doubt anyone would be interested in continuing to moderate this forum, but their rank could always be restored. At the moment, we are only in danger of their accounts falling into the wrong hands. In case of GoldenGrunt, I'd rather suggest giving him the standard rank, since he has only 13 posts and didn't seem to do any threads edits as far as I know. I'm curious what board is he even assigned to.

Considering that there's currently nobody in the Global Moderator role who actively moderates the forum and isn't an Admin already, I feel that this role could easily be re-purposed into such an "Old Staff" role after changing its permissions.
Also, I just found out that even as an Admin, I do not have the permission to moderate the groups?

You should automatically have access to moderate everywhere, with the only restriction being that you cannot delete this Forum! So I will have to investigate why you are limited.

I'd also like to know what you think about the suggestion I made in the first post, as the person who's been in charge of things on this forum for all these years.

I found that there is a member group available that I could use for "Staff emeritus", and shift the old , inactive staff members into that group, with limits on moderation abilities ... once I rediscover how to edit said abilities of member groups.

I created 2 new groups and moved the old staff members to them. I had to keep new names short because of the Grunt images - they are quite tall so more than one line of text looks very weird.

While checking your changes, I elected to delete a number of accounts where the last visit was at least one year ago with no posts. I noticed that there are a handful of accounts nearly one year old with no posts that may be deleted less than three weeks from now.

Unsatisfied with Gaby's rank name, I changed it again. The word "Staff" is just long enough to fit together with the image, while "Admin" is not.
I tried to fix this by changing the font size a little bit but it appears Proboards customization is too limited to allow it.
