Still experimenting with it, but the latest Windows 10 update reset the TouchPad (which I hate) and also defaulted my folder preferences to Microsoft's useless settings.
But I found that under Settings/Mouse there is a path to make the TouchPad disabled when a Mouse is attached (in my case, always). One problem solved.
Next, I found that there are menu items allowing a change in size of the cursor. As I am typing this, my setting is '4' ... which is much too large. So '2' is my next try. At my age, size '1' has me hunting all over for where the cursor is located ... especially when TouchPad has been reset to enabled and my fat fingers have brushed the thing ... sending the cursor off into the wild blue yonder. Next, I will locate a set of custom pointers that are multi-colored, as the white with black border version hides very well.
The other problem (folder defaults) is not so easy. Following the Googled instructions works ... partially. It claimed that "All existing & future (music) folders will now appear the way you have just set up". NOT SO! The folders of that type are only partially changed. Any folders under such a folder remain with the 'General' column settings, even though they have 'Music' (for example) as their folder types. So I have been spending a lot of time restoring my preferred column settings to hundreds of music folders. (I have folders alphabetically by artists (26 of them) and many by year (1955 through 1969) and by "special occasions" (Halloween, Christmas, etc.) as well as for collections that I put together such as fast/slow/dance type/etc.) Microsoft default is File/Track/Title/Contributing Artist/Album which may be fine if all you have are albums. I have at least 10,000 SINGLES and almost every entry has comments about top chart position and date, 'flip side' and frequently the musicians who were part of the recording.
