I was reading some of the new messages and came across a hint from GooRoo. I have never heard of this; the Ctrl-# method of assigning gruntz numbers to make them faster to work with? Is that right? Could you please explain what it is exactly and how to do it? I need all the help I can get

Say you have three Gruntz: Select a Grunt and press the keyboard combination "Ctrl 1". Click on the center (map) icon in the status area to show all of your Gruntz, with the Toolz and/or Toyz they are carrying. The Grunt you selected now has a bold white 1 on its status line. Select another Grunt and press the keyboard combination "Ctrl 2". Select the last Grunt and press "Ctrl 3". If you selected Gruntz in the order I listed them above, the Gruntz will each have a number associated with them: Gauntletz | 1 | Shovel | 2 | SpongeGun | 3 |
If you press either "1" key, the Gauntletz Grunt will be selected. If you press "1" twice, the map display will be centered around the Gauntletz Grunt.

You need to hold down ctrl first, then press a number.
Say, has anyone tried this with letterz?

I don't know if you got it to work yet, peekaboo, but in case you didn't here's a hint.
The numbers you use should be the ones above the letters and not the ones on the right side of the keyboard. They didn't work for me. You'll know if it worked by checking the gruntz in the machine.

Oh my goodness, I'm so embarrassed. You're absolutely right. I was using the number pad. It works now. Thank you so much, oldone.

okay I got the assigning #'s part. But how do you un-assign a number and reassign a number another gruntz is already using?

by clicking the grunt # you actually assign him (the assign one gets a red circle) and he is ready to do what ever you tell him to ... remember, you can use 't' for tool and 'y' for toy and now, all there's to do is practice this method ...

Thank you Gaby. But that's not what I meant. I have a gruntz that is getting left behind and won't be used any more. I want to take his # 1 assigned number and give it to a gruntz that was assigned # 3. How do I do that?

Tried that, it doesn't work. The gruntz was assigned '*' by the computer. Here's what I havel: Gruntz = # 1 Gruntz = # 2 Gruntz = # 3 I'm leaving gruntz #1 behind and he won't be used anymore. I want to delete his number from him, delete Gruntz # 3's number and reassign # 1 to him.

Sounds good if you say it fast. But it doesn't happen. Tried that also. I need to delete their numbers first and then reassign. But I'm guessing no one has tried this before. It seems once they have a number, they are stuck with it. If I try to change it, I get stars. Oh well, thank you anyway Gaby. You're cool.

the "*" meanz that grunt is asigned to multiple groups.
Also I think it is quite impossible to remove a number from a grunt.
Also note that this method was first created for Battlez (like many other "Hot Keyz")
Another question answered here: Why doesn't it work whit the NumberPad? Simply because the NumberPad have another purpose: You can select an item from your Ressourse Tab (The Gruntz Machine) whit it. It is obviously something else that was designed for Battlez.

Mandew wrote: "Also I think it is quite impossible to remove a number from a grunt." Ditto. Since I've tried and tried, it sure doesn't look like it. Thanks Mandew.

For sure, once you assign a #, you are stuck with it. But you can always assign another # to the grunt you want to use.
