You can enter the rolling rock section from west of the arrows. There is one space there that will allow you to step on one of the arrows on the west side.

Wow! I am either experiencing the first symptoms of "old timer's disease" , or it has been a lot longer than I thought since I played this CL. I cannot picture where you are at all! My only recourse is to drop what I am doing, and fire up Gruntz and load "The Three Musketeers". Hopefully just scanning the map will jolt my faulty memory, and I will be able to add a useful reply to this thread.

Ah! I finally found where you are. Part of the trick is to fill in the Holez your Shovel Grunt can reach before doing anything else. Then start the Shovel Grunt toward the left-most Arrow from the far left, firing the first sponge at the furthest Arrow from Spongegun #1 (positioned west of the Arrowz). SpongeGun #2 is at the far right ... fire at the Arrow pointing to the wall when Shovel is 4 Arrowz away. SpongeGun #1 moves to be able to reach an Arrow leading towardz the CupCakez. I would fire as Shovel is on the last Arrow pointing toward the left, sending Shovel diagonally to the last Arrow leading away from the CupCakez. SpongeGun #2 fires at the Arrow just below the BOTS when Shovel stepz on the Arrow pointing to the right. P.S. This Custom Level is one that revealed a bug which allowed Shovel to be shot over the wall into the area on a higher plateau!

Unlike the "walk diagonally through pyramidz as they are being raised" bug, I see very little use for taking advantage of the "shoot a Grunt past a hill barrier". (Except that it has been so widely used, I would not have used the pyramidz 'bug' myself ... but the damage had already been done.)

I never even tried to 'shoot a Grunt past a hill barrier'... bug or no bug... this time I was in a position to shoot the grunt to the zap colla... and so I did... ... it took me enugh time to practice the finger work to shoot the grunt over the arrowz... although it took me much less time then in the 'knights' tour' - where I first tried this method... thank you GooRoo for the support... ...

I am at the area where the shovelz has to go by the sword and gauntlet gruntz to fill in the holez...it will take some practice I am sure...so that is my project for today. And, after reading all the posts...looks like I am in for lots more practice. I have never gotten the hang of the ctrl + # method...being left handed is a disadvantage there...so I never finished Knight'z Tour either....guess I'll have to make more of an effort to make my right hand do the work, or figure out a good left handed method...
I like getting the PERFECT! too much to be swayed by a sub puzzle unless it is just too tightly timed to make it worth my while, like in Golf Master Competition ( I believe that's the one that has about 25 sub puzzlez, each more tightly timed than the last....I gave up on that one too...)

I am not sure how this sub puzzle workz....every time I send both gauntletz and bootz up one square to the right as it sayz in the WT....the purple swordz and gauntletz descend upon them and annialate them before shovelz makez his way to the hole he is supposed to dig to be safe...am I not doing this correctly? Is there any other way to do this? I see that I am supposed to convert them and the shieldz later...but....

as all timing sud-puzzlez this too takes some practice... you've got to attract the enemy ( they are disposable) so shovelz can go to the east end of the area... stand on the second filled hole and dig the first one (do not fill/dig eny other hole on the way).... The trick with the three Gruntz vs the enemy Sword Gruntz is to suicide the two one after the other by preventing them from approaching the Sword Gruntz side-by-side. And to move Shovel along a circuitous path ... the direct path will make Shovel more of a prime target than either of the other two Gruntz. And be quick in filling in that Hole!

I have been working on this one sub puzzle for two dayz now and still can't seem to get it.... I have the bootz just below the cupcake at the top and gauntletz right behind him.... When I send bootz up one square to the right, the enemy swordz and gauntletz go to get him and I immediately send shovelz to fill in the next hole... When the enemy gruntz have killed the bootz, I use my gauntletz to make the swordz and enemy gauntletz walk back and forth from their starting positionz to my gauntletz, giving my shovelz time to fill in his hole and recharge... Then, I let them kill my gauntletz while I move my shovelz down one hole to fill in the next hole...only in the WT it sayz that if I can fill in the next hole and move onto it, the enemy gruntz will go back to their starting positionz but instead they come after me!!! I know it is a matter of timing here, but am I doing something wrong? My shovelz and gauntletz have very low health after their trip across the spikez just above, but my bootz is healthy and takez all of the beating first, from the swordz.... Should I switch the bootz and gauntletz, and let the enemy gruntz kill him first? A little here?
