I used Resurrect to make a green enemy and a gruntz surounded by RBs. The gruntz gets a Sponge and makes green to reach the GHS which lowers the GP to help Sponge return to the PS. But barehanded could have gone to the PS without getting the Sponge, so is there a point in getting the Sponge???
...but you do need the sponge for a PERFECT though.
