I was looking on YouTube and found the Gruntz moviez! Links: IntroOuttroEdit: For those with the CD, where are the moviez in the Gruntz.rez file and what are they called? (Extensions too please) I have the moviez on a CD-ROM from Monolith Productions, Inc. as a low cost item ... I have to charge $2.00 over my out-of-pocket costz for CD, case and postage ... $1.00 (minimum) to MPI and an equal amount for my 'handling'. (That's the agreement with MPI.) I simply 'bundle' the moviez with the Gruntz Level Editor, the patchez from "Paul's Gruntz Page" and all of the Gruntz Custom Levelz that have been distributed to date. I periodically update the 250MB Zip disk with CLz as they come out ... usually when someone requestz the disk. (I tend to procrastinate.) As far as where they are found in the Gruntz.REZ file ... I do not know off-hand, and would have to open WinRezLT to do the search ... and I have about 600MB of programz active on my computer right now ... with only 512MB of RAM. (So thingz are very slow, due to using the hard drive as extended memory. ) Edit: On my Zip disk, the filez are 17.2MB (ending movie) and 44.5MB (the story) ... if that helpz you to determine what they are named within the Gruntz.REZ file.

I have the Realarcade version myself, so I need to know so I can modify my Gruntz.rez file with them in. (I'm quite happy downloading them.)

I have the Realarcade version myself, so I need to know so I can modify my Gruntz.rez file with them in. (I'm quite happy downloading them.) The moviez are quite large, and in the Gruntz.REZ file they are in a proprietary format. I do not have any program that will do the necessary conversion ... and do not even know what program would be able to do it ... other than something that Monolith Productions, Inc. has (and probably won't make available). The moviez I received from MPI are ordinary MPG type filez, viewable by WinAmp (and probably most video/media playerz). I have them bundled so that they are included on the CD-ROMz I send out when someone is willing to pay approximately $3.95 + postage for all of the Gruntz Custom Levelz that have been released at the time of purchase. The breakdown of the cost: CD-ROM | $.50 | blank | slim-line case | $.50 | generic | mailer | $.95 | generic | Monolith Productions, Inc. | $1.00 | matching the minimum | Ed Kivi (GooRoo) | $1.00 | minimum | Total | $3.95 | without postage |
I just made an inquiry yesterday at the Post Office, and postage to the United Kingdom (for example) is $2.55 ... for a total cost of $6.50; cost to destinationz in the United States is less, and variable (depending on how many 'zonez' are involved). Edit: Using PayPal will add about $.71 to the total cost ... but just make your payment to the nearest half dollar.

Thanks to one of our newer Gruntzerz, I now am able to accept payment for the Gruntz Extraz CD-ROM via PayPal! So the only delay in receiving the CD containing the most current existing Gruntz Custom Levelz (and a lot more!) is in the snail mail (aka United States Postal Service) from me to you. Contents: - GruntzDemo (freely distributable 'trimmed-down' version of Gruntz)
- Gruntz Custom Levelz
- Gruntz Level Editor (ready to go, and also ZIPped)
- Gruntz moviez
- Gruntz CL Walkthroughz (where they exist)
- Each Designer has a folder all their own
- Within each Designer's folder are folderz for each CL
- Promotez easy creation of walkthroughz for your new puzzlez
- GooRoo's Gruntz Forum emoticons
- Grunt imagez (SuicideBomber through Wingz) ... HTML walkthroughz
- Tile imagez for all eight graphicz setz (useful for HTML walkthroughz)
- imagez for use in Gruntz CL walkthroughz not listed above
The folderz are arranged in such a manner that the entire contentz of the Gruntz folder on the Gruntz Extraz CD-ROM may be copied into your Gruntz folder ... which would replace all of the Custom Levelz you have that are also on the CD-ROM ... not good, if you have modified some of them for your own play. In that case, you would have to copy those componentz you want 'by hand' ... one at a time. Anyway, copying the folders: - editor (Tile imagez, etc.)
- emoticons (aka 'smiliez', such as the onez we used to use in postz)
- hintz (aka "Walkthroughz")
- images (the small Gruntz with their Toolz, etc.)
to your hard drive will allow you to create HTML walkthroughz of your own that will work when uploaded to my web host. All referencez are relative to the Index.html component, the way I am creating walkthroughz now. Doing it that way, it will not matter where your walkthrough is stored (what web host I am using) it will be viewed properly. Also, someone else's 'standardized' HTML walkthrough will be properly viewed on your own computer, without going on-line. Edit: I forgot to mention that the Gruntz Extraz CD-ROM also containz the Version 1.12 REZ file, intended to eventually contain the seven additional Secret Levelz (when I figure out how to name them, so they work!) and the WinRezLT program used to modify the REZ file.

I was one who made those movies (intro and exit) that someone posted on YouTube and was very amused to see them up there.
I never realized that when I created (modeled and animated) the Gruntz character many many years ago that people would still be playing it after all this time. It's nice to see all the stuff that people are doing on their own. Good work!
Thanks for the support all. -Rick

I guess I will have to play the ending movie, with all of the creditz, to see which of the celebritiez has joined our Forum! Perhapz you might be able to provide some inside information about Gruntz ... like the naming convention for the Secret Levelz! I have seven of them just waiting in the wingz to add to the Gruntz.Rez file and send out as Version 1.12! But my poor attemptz to get them to work have failed miserably.

To be honest it was eons and eons ago, and hard to recall the specifics. I just provided the art to the coders.. err.. just Kevin, and he and the level designers were responsible for the naming and all the secret stuff. It sure was a VERY brief and fun production cycle.
I did have a great time making the little gruntz though. Fond fond memories....
