I recently reinstalled Gruntz and two things I have noticed that are different from before:
1. The GRUNTZ don't talk! When I click on them or when they're making actions, they do not talk! Of course, all other sounds work - sound effects, ambient sounds, etc. 2. There's music on the background which I had never heard before.
My question is:
How can I get rid of the music and let the Gruntz talk again?
P.S. This happens to both the RealArcade version of Gruntz and a downloaded one from torrent site. (I have 2 versionz of Gruntz.)

Although I am unfamiliar with the RealArcade and the torrent versions, I think they should be the same as the on CD's. Start the game and either from the Main menu or if you're have a level loaded then from the Game panel (where Pause Game, Save Game, etc. are), select Options. It should open up a window entitled "Game Optionz". Where it says "Voicez", make sure there is a check in the little box on the left, and adjust the volume of the voicez with the slider bar (the more to the right the slider bar is, the louder the voicez are). Down below Voicez is the Music option. If you don't want to hear the music at all, then remove the checkmark from the box, or if you like, you can adjust the volume of the music with the slider bar (all the way to the left will be just like unchecking the box; I keep having adjust mine to the right because I want to hear the music, but for some reason every time I start the game, it little by little adjusts itself back to the left 'til I can't hear it. Then I have reinstall the screen patch. Ugh!).

Every single type of sound is at max (Voice, Music, etc.) but the voicez don't work! Believe me, if that was the problem, I wouldn't be posting this. Sound effects and voices do not work, but music does.
However, what I noticed is that when I command my Gruntz the "!" bubble above them doesn't show, this means that they're disabled somehow. What must I do?

You said they're at the max. Make sure you checked each checkbox next to Sound Effectz and next to Voicez. Also UNcheck the music one! I don't think the bubble would show if voicez are disabled, otherwise it would make no sense. A very stupid question, but that could actually change thingz: did you click 'OK' after modifying the soundz? (BTW, you can also modify these optionz while playing a SL, CL or BL, though I don't know if it would make difference ) IIRC... hasn't this happened to Gaby once as well? You could take a look at the thread and see if you find anything.

I have been in the computer world for 14 years, so I'm not a newbie on this kind of things. I know pretty well that everything is at max, clicked OK, tried without music, nothing. No sound effects nor voices. I'll try that. Edit: Didn't help. No sound effects nor voices, still. Only music. I want voices and sound effects so badly! Can someone help? Edit 2: Gaby! I have the same problem as you did! The "!" shows up, and when I typed in a cheat, I could hear: "Yeah, that's what I'm talking about!" P.S. The Sound Effects - got them fixed. Please, can you tell me how did you repair the sounds!? P.S. 2: I have both a Gruntz.vrz folder and a GRUNTZ.VRZ file, but they can't be both in the same directory. I tried switching between the two, and the only difference I noticed: - With the GRUNTZ.VRZ file, the "!" shows up and instead of voice, you can hear a "pop" sound very briefly, like if it is trying to play it. - With the Gruntz.vrz folder, the "!" doesn't show up and the "pop" sound is not heard.

I have been in the computer world for 14 years, so I'm not a newbie on this kind of things. I have been in the computer world for 47 yearz ... and I still consider myself a 'newbie' at times!

Maybe I exaggerated a little bit, there is still much to learn - still a newbie. It seems like Gaby had the exact same problem as me. I wonder if this problem is still remembered by Gaby. However, help is appreciated from everyone, the best part of Gruntz is the Voices, can't live without them.

The GRUNTZ.VRZ folder is for the RealArcade version (1.10), and the file is for the other version you have.
By the way, you didn't install both in the same folder, did you? If they're different versionz, I believe you have two different executablez and .REZ filez, along with some other required.
If you said the pop sound and the '!' are not showing in the .VRZ folder, you could check to see if the voicez are missing there.

No, they're on different folders, don't worry. And no, every single file is there.

I think it's good to indicate you're familiar with common fixes in order to keep others from wasting time, but still be willing to learn if there's something new.
If you hold shift when you launch Gruntz, you'll see the advanced options. I didn't see anything there that would fix your problem, but it's another thing to check.

Doesn't work. What do you mean, "when you launch Gruntz"? At the main menu, while Gruntz is being launched, during a Questz/Battlez game, etc.

I don't know, where I have to hold Shift ... anyway:
Go to My Computer and double click on Gruntz. There will appear GRUNTZ LAUNCHER. Now, go to "Advanced". Here are placed these ... "Advanced Options" ...

Use the shortcut as normal to launch Gruntz, but as you double-click it hold Shift.
Like this:
Hold Shift > Start Gruntz from shortcut > Release Shift.

I got the Advanced Options working, but they didn't help.

I had the same problem and after one hour of reading this forum I found out it is like someone said: They deleted voice files in order to make the game faster to download. But there are still full games in the internet but I don't know if I am allowed to write it here. If anybody want - write an e-mail to me, i will send you this site adress.
