Can I post anything here? Not sure but wanting to wail so here goes....
Back is killing me and sore all over. Woke up to flooded basement, broken pipes, soggy boxes, ruined items, destroyed pool table, .... Wet vacs, plumber, wringing out shop towels into buckets, grimy corners (that had been covered for years with boxes and what-not), carting LOTS of stuff out (hopefully to dry and some salvaging), running down the mountain into town for fans to help finish blow-dry floor, people hungry; finding this, finding that, answering one hundred questions, throwing a couple dead dessicated mice down the hillside; This has been my day . The softener also back- flushed cuz forgot to turn it off and salt is in all the lines when water turned back on. I was so looking forward to a nice hot shower. Instead I had a salt bath. Hooray. Oh well, probably good for something I hope.
Plumber be here in morn to cut hole in kitchen ceiling and re-plumb lines that also look suspect. Yes, I have a two story with basement. If only I had thought ahead to my "golden years". Money goes out, I go to bed.

yep you had one of those dayz, and it's a shame that in real life we cannot do 'undo' and back to the last saving... ...but, I'm sure that every thing is for a reason ( I'm a fatalist) and something good will come out of all the bad ( In that I belive)... well, now you'll have a clean basement, new pipez and a golden opportunity to get rid of unnecessary thingz ... for sure it was a trying and a frustrating day, but tomorrow will be another ( and a better) day...

And "yes, this is the proper place to post that sort of message", Peekaboo! As Gaby said, some good is likely to come out of all of your troublesome day ... "every dark cloud has a solver lining" ... and Gaby mentioned some of the 'plusez' ... clean(er) basement and the opportunity to get rid of some unneeded itemz cluttering up the area. Even the 'salt bath' is a recommended therapy for sore musclez!

Thanks guys, for the cheering words. Needed those. The worst of all is that my basement had a lot of stuff in it from when my Mom passed away. My granny's dining table was ruined (warped legs and top) and a box of old pictures sitting on it are literally blackened and melted. Still going thru stuff, no telling. But I did have a worker tell me that, for all the mess and stress, I stayed cheerful. Of course it's ill-mannered to rant in front of strangers so I Did It Here. Thanks for letting me vent, strangers.

LoL Tx Gaby. (laugh out loud)
Edit: This is the second time in the last few months. The first was just a couple months ago and the plumber then started to replace lines but had to leave for other jobs. Now he has showed up to work again and is working here when he can. Sure was hoping nothing would break before he got to all the lines but no such luck. My table was actually messed up the first time but this finished up what I was hoping to repair. Argh!
Do all contractors move from job to job and back like they do here? It's a SMall to medium (heavy on the small) town so guess they stay busy.

Oh Peekaboo, I so understand what you're going through. Thank the good Lord those days are over for me, but there was a time that I lived in a house where we had basement floods every year. We would spend a fortune thinking we had it fixed and it would happen again the next year. Lost some very precious pictures (including my wedding album), antique christmas tree decorations, a handmade bedspread and other assorted memorabilia. I did learn a very good lesson however. Everything I lost was just a thing. Things get replaced and forgotten. What they represented lives on in my heart never to be lost. God bless you sweetie, hope tomorrow is a better day. Oh yeah, Gaby should have told you this. People swim in the Dead sea (extremely salty and oily) for their health. So maybe your salt bath did you some good. Who knows?

Guys, ya'll are so nice. Actually, I'm using everybody'z advise. I feel ok about it all because they are just things and heck, it's past time to clean out that mess. So it's not too bad cept for my achy breaky back and knees. Just got thru carrying three buckets of cleaning water up and down the stairs today and moved boxes back in but my very nice neice helped me out and it turned out to be kinda fun. She can make me laugh. I shalt persevere.
