There were requests (5 of them) with 3 being from Blacklisted IP addresses ... banned. One, I accepted as a new member; one I sent an email to requesting confirmation since neither the email address nor the IP address had any entries.

I have no idea why there are so many 'guests' from Amazon, Inc.! What do you people find of interest here? We have little, if anything, 'for sale' ... and even less that we want to buy!

Amazon is more than the online shopping website. Amazon also has a subsidiary called "Amazon Web Services" which lets you host web applications (and for this case, bots). My guess is that they all come from a spammer's AWS account.

216.52.89.111 (Times Square, New York City) is another certified SPAM/SCAM/Phishing source.

Amazon web services customers: please be aware that due to a ridiculously high number of SPAM/SCAM/Phishing abusers of the service exist, and I am forced to ban ALL IP addresses (globally) that use Amazon. Please try again, using an unpolluted WiFi system.

Banning does not stop them from viewing ... only prevents them from becoming members. If you click on ""Guest(s)" at the bottom of the page, it brings up a list of however many 'guests' are online at the time. Highlighting an IP address brings up a dialog box which includes a search item. Click on that and (frequently) there is a link containing the word 'blacklist', which will provide you with whether or not the IP address has been blacklisted (for whatever reason) but always with more information that includes the name of the host. I see entries for a globally banned IP (yesterday, for instance) that show up TODAY!

Quote from Kami on Proboards Support regarding my question about anti-SPAm possibilities.
"You cannot 'disconnect' an IP, no. If the IP is banned, then while they may log as a visitor, they will only see a banned message, anywhere they click on the forum. The list will show them as a visitor, because loading the error message is still loading the forum and they are there. They just won't be able to see any content."
So, swietymiki, your observation is correct ... if banned (globally) they cannot see my message about Amazon.
