You know, a Paint program that will handle GIFs with multiple cels ... animations?
I am looking at the poor effort I made on Paul's mini-banner (shows right under the menu bar) and thinking ... all of the pieces for "Paul's ... Gruntz ... Page" with 'Gruntz' rotating are easily available. All it takes is to merge "Paul's" for a few cels (as many as it takes to go through a full cycle of "Gruntz") with "Gruntz" and "Page" (also repeated xx cels) to make a nice animated mini-banner.
Oh! Did I forget to mention that the components need to be re-sized to 88 pixels tall and 31 pixels wide? The only tool I have, MS Paint, was capable of re-sizing "Paul's" but lacks the intelligence to handle animated GIFs ... and I lack the skill to do GIF animations.
"A little help ... please?"

Once again, I have to recommend Ulead's PhotoImpact. Outside of the professional graphics programs that cost hundreds of dollars, PhotoImpact is one of the best graphics programs around if not the best and for a fraction of the cost. And I know of some professional graphics designers that use it for their business, but it's easy enough for rank amateurs to use. And there is plenty of user-to-user support in the form of forums and bulletin boards. I know of one user board that has in the past had an animation forum where you could get help using the program to make animations. Given the number of things that you are wanting to do, it might be worth the investment to purchase.

I ordered PhotoImpact last night, so should have it by Monday evening. Once I get it, my first graphics 'challenge' will be to complete Paul's mini-banner as an animated GIF of 88X31 size, with his rotating 'Gruntz' in all its glory! After that, I will split time between correcting any errors found in "Knight'z Tour" and animating the (zipped lips) emoticon ... the only non-animated one in use here. Further down the road would be colorizing all of the emoticons in Yellow, for a consistent appearance. Once that is done, I should have a pretty good handle on how to change colors of the entire set, in case I ever decide to change the color scheme of this Forum, or as a service to others Forum admins. All of the buttons, such as were done for me by Monty Barker, simply because I mentioned that I liked the ones he had (in Blue). If I learn how to do these things, I can consider that I have returned the favor (indirectly) by doing something similar for someone else.

Cool! What version are you getting? My wife tells me that PhotoImpact 10 (or PI10 for short) is out now. The latest version we have is PI8 (we need to upgrade our machines to handle anything newer. Ugh!). For a good resource forum, go to PIRC ( Photo Impact Resource Center) pub118.ezboard.com/bpirc67276 for any questions or help that you need. They are a great bunch of folks there and have tons and tons of knowledge. Tell them Deb and David sent you; they'll know who we are. Registration is required, but it's free--unless you want the Gold membership. I hope you like the program and that it meets your expectations. I'm certain it will.

It is version 10, and has a number of items bundled with it ... I guess a clip-art gallery, etc. When I receive it, I will post the full details of everything that is included. And I will check into the Forum link when I have everything installed.

The doorbell rang a few minutes ago, and my daughter answered it and took delivery of a package ... PhotoImpact 10! I didn't expect it until Monday, so my daughter and I agree that there are some companies that take customer service seriously ... and ULEAD is definitely one of them! I a little more than an hour, my daughter and I will be leaving for our last Seattle Mariners baseball game of the year, though, so I won't be able to do much more than install it and register it today. I won't mind if Ichiro gets two base hits in tonight's game.

My intent is to combine the single image "Paul's" with the animated "Gruntz" and the single image "Page" into one re-sized animation. As you can see above, re-sizing "Paul's" to 88X31 pixels was easy ... even with the minimal abilities of MS Paint. Re-sizing "Page" will also be quite easy. The tough part (I thought) was re-sizing the animated "Gruntz" down from its original size of 200X60 to 88X31; using ULEAD's GIF Animator 5.05, it was a snap! I thought I was going to have to re-size each one of the 50 or so cels individually ... not so ... one re-size operation took care of every cel! Even at this stage, of knowing absolutely nothing about how to use the program, I am impressed! Now the hard part will evidently be to add in "Paul's" and "Page" (re-sized) to the re-sized "Gruntz" animation. My eyelidz are getting heavy, though, so I will take up the project after some much needed 'beauty sleep'.

GooRoo, you already know this, but I have a GIF animation program which I believe iz fairly good. Ask it and I will create it whether a smiley or a mini-banner for Gruntzola of anything GIF!
Also, if you were wondering, I use 'The Gimp 2.2'.
Once again, continuing old threadz, which might be a dumb idea.

I also know Paul's Gruntz Page has a different color scheme than what is used here, and so I would recommend changing some of the pictures used there to something matching the destination's color scheme. I am pretty delighted when things come earlier than planned. I remember I was pretty happy when my Gruntz CD came.
