True. But still, what I'd really like to see though is something different. I always have dreamed of a moody tile set, like a ghost town! Plateaus making a distinction between streets and houses, stairs being the doorways. Everything in a deep purple hue. Think about it! I wish I was good at drawing. I certainly agree that would be a much better place for an alternative to plateauz.

Loving the tileset for the most part! The main thing I feel really needs changing is the plateau tilez, those should still give that height illusion imo.

Personally I think the inactivity is a result of lack of new custom levelz. There are so many puzzlez that have been designed, even with all the combinations of elementz in Gruntz. It's getting harder to come up with something that hasn't been done already. I haven't come up with ideaz to work on myself, and levelz that I have worked on that I've taken another look I've forgotten what was going on. Plus I have a million other things going on outside of Gruntz.

Been long since I worked on it...I know I did make some changez, but I don't think I managed to test it all the way though.

Notice how only gauntletz is selected after he passez through the BPz and is ordered to move to free space.^ I managed to complete the level, great challenge! Though I missed the well hidden secret and a different coin.

It's when a reactive armor grunt takez enough damage to send him into the 1/2 bar of health. Not necessarily 0 health, but the health bar displayz as a 0 health grunt.

Currently I have: - A very old 'keep the ball rolling' styled level.
- A level in which I have no idea what is supposed to be going on any more.
- A space level based on switchez that change tilez to make 'circuit' connectionz.
- A super minified version of GruntzKoban, having the area itself change wallz and switchez.
- A level with a thief warpstone grunt.
- A level based on having gruntz wander around with 0 hp.
- A template layout of a vector field...
and I'm sure there are a few otherz.

But RHS is necessary to reach the silver switch inside RPs, wasn't that making the whole process a bit too problematic? I missed a 'f' in "off" I was able to get the shield onto the RHS..but getting him off looked like it would take at least 2 gruntz to distract the spotlightz..now I wonder if there'z actually 3-4 spotlightz there..making that idea impossible even. As I said though, bad planning on my part. I guess I went for it mainly because I thought that using the bomb run would be the more conservative method. But it does seem like ignoring the RHS so you can reach the SS more easily is required for the PERFECT though.

I gave it a shot, managed to complete it, but missed various coinz and the secretz. Mostly due to really bad optimization though. It's definitely an interesting idea, and it was easily predictable to know what each switch did. I did initially end up killing the pink shield via off-screen drowning during my first attempt..but I noticed this rather quickly and reloaded. I don't think it's much of an issue though, ideally, this is more of a paper planning type of level, otherwise you can only sub-optimally stumble through it. The timingz for getting the coinz in the SP blockz as bombz passed by felt too tight for me. Aside that, I ended up ignoring trying to get the pink shield of the RHS because I felt I did too poorly in order of eventz, might try it again later though if I have time. Neat level overall!

Personally I'd recommend Eclipse Classic, which is what I used through my senior year in high school. Compiling should be straight forward, and it even helps by suggesting code phrases based on what's being typed, and color codes/error marks and etc as you go along. www.eclipse.org/downloads/

Tessellationz would be a great way to go about this, making it a piece of cake. I'm not a complete expert on it, but generating some kind of wavey/strange shaped clone piece (or a combination of), then merely shrinking it down and copying it around can have an amazing effect down to microlevel. Also by varying the tessellationz piecez slightly in some you can have different wavez through sand or the like. For anyone that's interested I had a minor spree in my graphic arts design class where I made tessellationz, among other thingz: vicsto.weebly.com/tessalations.html

Managed to complete the level to a PERFECT, was enjoyable! I managed to fall for the little tricky eyecandy canez near the warpstone as well once. As far as getting around with the strangeness of eyecandiez, playing battlez such as 'Flying Fiascoez' pretty much taught me to never trust gruntz to get anywhere when challenged by void-like spacez...even if I know when they will go up/down reliably in some spotz. That and I'm stuck on the smallest resolution cause of windowz 7.

I haven't attempted the level yet, but from what I can see, if you want to get shovelz past the arrow, you can do it by using friendly fire as shovelz stepz out onto the side of space directly adjacent to the arrow.

I have observed post gruntz assault the grunt nearest them if moved around before. Chance are that yes, he would begin fighting with the other post guard.

Interesting, bringz a back a few ideaz for using enemy gruntz to toggle switchez via other enemiez. This condensez space and amount of gruntz used significantly.

In addition to some pointz:
I too am annoyed by fog cancelling selection on Gruntz, if the crtl # was implemented this wouldn't be as big of an issue though. From the first fog navigating area though, I can tell that it's supposed to be a mechanic of knowing where to order your grunt to reach the next revealed area. If so, it should be constrained only to such use imo, having it propagate the entire level seemz kind of strange and cumbersome more than anything.
I do actually like the prospect of losing control of your grunt to some degree. Maybe some kind of pink fog (so you can tie it to pink switchez) which will not allow the player to order gruntz into its cover, or select gruntz that are underneath it. Terrain under this fog is still visible. This mechanic endz up far more manipulable I think, as well as making it less necessary to make darkened out areas with spolchez of revealed onez, as it does look a bit odd. The blackened out areaz, in turn should be unnavigable until you reveal them. It may even be neat to turn the white switchez into a new 1 time switch design, so areaz are either permanently revealed..or permanently hidden away as past partz.

Well I'm not sure what's going on with the rest of the community, but I've been busy with thingz varying from college to other gamez to learning mapping and design for other gamez as well. Currently I have a few Gruntz Clz (about 3-4 actually) that are roughly 50-75% complete, but again, have been feeling detracted as of late. I have also noticed the general decline of activity in the forum, and that obviously hasn't really motivated me to prioritize unfinished projectz at the moment.
