I have been away from the forum for a couple of weeks and I thought I'd share with you all the reason why. On Thursday, May 5, my wife entered the hospital with what we thought was a very bad asthma attack or pneumonia. It was neither. Rather, the diagnosis was an enlarged heart and congestive heart failure. Two days later, on May 7, I received a phone call from the hospital at about 11 a.m., telling me that my wife's condition had changed and that I needed to come to the hospital right away. When I arrived, I was ushered into a day room and was given the news that despite all the doctors' efforts, my wife had passed away. She was only 43. I would appreciate your prayers for me as I now must assume a greater role as a father (we have three children: ages 18, 16, and 13), in addition to working to provide for my family as I was before, as well as continuing to deal with some of the end of life issues and my own grief. GooRoo, I still would like to continue as a moderator here, although how much I will be here and how often is still yet to be determined. After all, all of us, myself included, need some form of diversion at times and Gruntz makes a great diversion.

David, you will be in my prayers, and those of my own family for strength and comfort in these trying times. As for the 'asthma attack' that wasn't, I understand what you went through on that as well. When I took my wife to the clinic a few months ago my concern level shot up when we were directed to go directly to the hospital emergency room. With dozens of people waiting, she was ushered right in to see a doctor. Mary Lou's asthma could well have been the same congestive heart failure your wife suffered. Forty-three is far too young to be taken in such a manner. As far as moderating here, I will make no changes until someone specifically asks me to remove them from the staff. Between you, IdleAl, Bea and Gamer, I feel we have a very dedicated group of Gruntzerz who have the game in their best interests, and would not want to change a thing!
