Somehow our IP address was changed, so Cloudflare was unable to connect to our web host. After close to two hours in contact (first virtual assistant(NOT!) then with real people) the IP address was updated (forgive my lack of knowledge) and the DNS system changed. But I was told it would take up to 24 hours for the change to be seen globally. At the time of this post, MY access is minimal.

As you may be able to determine, the problem has progressed negatively! I cannot even login, much less access the admin processes in order to try to restore icons. I tried clicking the spot where admin functions is located as plain text, but it does not work. I will attempt some sort of resolution with either GoDaddy (the web host) or Cloudflare (which somehow became a major player in our access). If I can reach Cloudflare and be recognized as an authorized person, I will delete the two entries that used to work in favor of the new one created with GoDaddy help,
I am finding that even the menu buttons on a posting page, such as this one, do not work properly. A button, once pressed, remains on until it is specifically turned OFF. And highlighting a string doesn't work properly either. (I pressed the Bold button with the entered text highlighted, and bolding has been extended to everything that I have typed since. That is not a problem, since it is exactly what I wanted to happen.) I simply fail to understand why something some other entity has done can cause so many problems for a user (me) and NOT be something that the entity that made the change is able to fix!
Edit: (GooRoo) Well, I did a login at Proboards, and that restored my ability to login at THIS Forum. (What a roundabout way to solve even the simplest problem!)

Well I changed the IP address in Cloudflare to what the GoDaddy tech provided as current. At the time of this posting, there has been no change that I can see. But at least the buttons work properly since I am logged in as usual, and NOT as a guest. But I still do not see the images that should appear in the main screen task bar, nor do I see the normal background images. I suppose it may be another 24 hours before we see progress.

Just a quick tour through the Forum, I see that the images that are working properly have all been copied (by Proboards staff) into Proboards storage. Everything with the broken image indicator is something only via GooRoosGruntz.info. I wish I knew who to blame for the change that has caused this problem: I would pray for them (by name). Lacking that knowledge I will use a 'catchall' prayer that they will take action to correct their mistake(s).

Pretty sure that was done by me and/or Zu during an earlier problematic period with web host access. I doubt the Proboards staff would interfere in such things. The current issue is clearly the lack of HTTP S on the gooroosgruntz.info site. Perhaps the SSL certificate was issued for the IP address instead of the domain? That would explain why it stopped working after the IP got changed.

You somehow managed to find your way into the admin functions in order to make those changes that at least allow easy(er) navigation.
THANK YOU!!!

It is a strange issue, this one. It appears something automatically detects and removes the alternate text from the navigation bar if it's unaltered. Now I'm just wondering what will happen to the ellipsis when the buttons reappear.

I no longer seem able to edit (make changes to) the plug-ins to change instances of HTTP:// to HTTPS:// and the only one I found with the string is for the support thread in this Forum.
So I am at a loss as to how to correct the missing icons in order to fix things.
It is really disturbing that some outside entity has caused the problem, but no one admits to it or does anything to fix things. I cannot even get to the Clouflare screen to delete the two old nameservers so that the one from GoDaddy is the ONLY one to use ... which the tech support claims would provide the correct IP address ... and thus fix the timeout problem.
Discouraged?!? That is too little a word to describe how I am feeling!

I just went to the admin page and bookmarked it! I presume that is how you got in to make the changes; you had a bookmark, and did not need to be able to see the link text. I actually managed it without a bookmark. Even with the text gone, there were narrow fields on the left part of the navigation bar which still acted as buttons. I hovered over them and checked the bottom-left corner of my web browser, to see which link goes where. I no longer seem able to edit (make changes to) the plug-ins to change instances of https:// to HTTPS:// and the only one I found with the string is for the support thread in this Forum. No point in doing that anyway, as the protocol and domain part of the URL is case insensitive. I just examined the SSL certificate for gooroosgruntz.info and noticed that it is said to have expired on 13.04.2022. That sounds very odd because that was more than a year ago and the site continued to work normally after that. I think it should be replaced with a newer certificate.

I made an entry in the words to change http: to https: and changed the message you read. Just as this reply would have an added 's' ... which is not there in my post ... if I had added the double slash..

Interesting! When I used gooroosgruntz.info I received error 404 ... but when I just used http without the s in my browser, it worked just fine! Whatever GoDaddy did, it reversed the update that added the s to the URL.
NOW i have something to argue that GoDaddy is the culprit, and they should fix things!

NOW i have something to argue that GoDaddy is the culprit, and they should fix things! I'm not so sure. From what I recall, we're not getting our SSL certificate from GoDaddy but a third party. So they wouldn't be obliged to assist us with that.

There is no help available for an 81 year old Luddite! Cloudflare provides no online help (Chat) with a human being, just volumes of articles purportedly explaining how to do things. But at least 95% of the acronyms used are unknown to me, and I no longer have either the incentive or ability to learn what I need to know in order to even bring the previous SSL over and update the nameservers associated with gooroosgruntz.info. I am useless in the effort to restore function to this forum or even to the web site for maintenance. FileZilla no longer can access the web site because of the 404 and/or 522 errors. Without knowledgable help from somewhere, this forum is dead ... because the web host decided to change the IP address.

Billboard Calendar is a link to my base entry for my Billboard charts ... and it works!
Why?
Because I removed the 's' from the URL. If I cannot resolve the problem properly, I will use words to remove the 's' from all of the URLs to restore some semblance of order. But I am working with the people with more expertise in the Cloudflare community to do what should have been done on September 18, 2023 or soon after.

I am pursuing a solution that is within my budget, but may require a move to a new web host. FOrtunately, our links are to a DOMAIN, not a named web host, so it should not be too traumatic.

I think it would be a good decision. GoDaddy has gone to the dogs over the years, drastically increasing prices and demanding even more expensive subscriptions to include basic features like SSL certificates. Migrating to a different platform which provides that "out of the box" could ease things up considerably.
