I consider most of Bjarni's Custom Levelz to be rather cruel, because he puts things in the middle of nowhere, with no visual clues at all that there is something of interest there. I had to literally walk on every single Tile of the map, in order to find the Secret in "3D Lava". Since this map is extremely 'loose' (the same Tile repeated almost endlessly in many areas), that is a lot of ground to cover! Simply by using the alternate Spikez Tile in that location would have been enough of a clue to send a solver there to 'take a look'. It is 80 Tilez wide, by 96 Tilez tall ... I bet I could recreate this level in no more than 28 by 28, with equivalent game play, if I tried. Well anyway, here's the answer.
Below the three CheckPoint Switchez (Gauntletz, Shield and Welder's Kit) is a Spikez area. One row has Spikez all the way across the area, from left edge to the water on the right edge. The Secret trigger spot is located four Tilez from the water on the Spikez row that runs all the way across.

this is the less cruel level Bjarni ever designed...if you do not account the spikez area... it's the secont time I play it...got the PERFECT... but... thumbz up means there is a walkthrough, well where is it...and... the spikez area has a lava fild on its right not water...

Bjarni claimed that he had a walkthrough for this CL on his web site, but the link was broken. I will change the indicator to "Thumbs Down" until I receive a good link to a 3D Lava walkthrough.

Why did you add a bridge off the island? It makes no sense to me that there are two teleports that have exactly the same destination. I admit that I gave no clue where the red teleport is, but what's the deal in letting the red teleport go to the same place as the blue one?

As per Blaze's suggestion, I prepared a remake of this level: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/109892108/3DLavaRemake01.zipEverything has been condensed into a 32x32 area. Several of the puzzles have been redesigned to pose a little bit more challenge. I wasn't sure whether to include the gimmick of the moving lava; Blaze will have to share his thoughts on this.

Looking over your remake, I would think that this would qualify more as a "3DLavaIII" than a remake of "3DLava". But I would like to see Blaze's dual area 'thing' retained ... but my own look at it indicaates that it would require a "fresh start" using the 2 plane version, in a 32X32 tile map, and placing the tiles and logics all over again in the new puzzle. And the 'bland' lava tiles would be replaced with invisible tiles, of course. Then the moving lava would appear in those spaces. Two planes in "Trouble In The Tropicz" is Blaze's very unique addition to Gruntz. I have no idea how he managed it in the first place, but I can see opening 3DLava, altering the map size, setting everything to invisible, then adding in your tiles and logics.

Well at least I did something right back when I was a kid. But having to use a gun hat grunt to kill all these enemies got boring very fast.
So I ask you Zu, what did you do to fix that? I'm not looking at the level right now as I'm pretty busy.
And how I feel about the gimmick is irrelevant as my mindset is a lot different from what it was back when I made it, so frankly I have no say here as I don't care.

I don't think there are any significant differences between the original and the remake in terms of the gunhat usage... in case of the remake, the gunhat has to take down a grand total of 3 enemies. I could add a Roidz powerup to make it faster.

I don't think there are any significant differences between the original and the remake in terms of the gunhat usage... in case of the remake, the gunhat has to take down a grand total of 3 enemies. I could add a Roidz powerup to make it faster. I was going to see if the Sword Gruntz wouldn't recognize the enemy (me) from the next Bridge Tile over, but elected to dispose of two of then instead of just one. I also 'softened up' the Gruntz with GooberStrawz, so took more time than you did. I 'toasted' the three Goo Suckerz (so they couldn't suck up any Goo I might have needed), which also added to my solving time. I found the most difficult mini-puzzle to be with the Time Bombz ... moving to place the Bomb so that I could step away from the Bomb, and still avoid being sponged into the lava. And it turned out that the only Zap Cola required was for the resurrected Grunt (and even he could have stayed in the red) ... never took any damage from any enemy Grunt. And only refreshed the Grunt that triggered the Red Warp because it was nearby, even though he was never in any danger when he returned. The Toggling Bridge for the Springz Grunt was very well designed ... allowing 'safe' places to take a breather (and SAVE).
But I repeat that it may be better presented as "3DLavaIII".
