They are good aren't they and I believe they get better as they go along. If anyone else wants to try them Peter is offering a months subscription free as a trial.

Jigsaws

If you enjoyed the demo, I think you woud love the actual jigsaws. Each one is so different from the other not just in subject but in the actual way it works. Peter has now brought out a second set of them which is in my opinion even more enjoyable - although it is very memory hungry. But I think the jigsaw series is very reasonably priced and Peter has a large number of people who have subscribed to the normal jigsaws for the year and who got the first series of moving ones free. The second series is not free - but again I don't think it is too expensive. Peter is also teaching a group of us to use Bryce - a design graphics system and we have all produced our own moving jigsaw which can be used in the programme. He has also supplied those of us who joined him in replaying Xiama - his first game through April, with our own personal jigsaw produced from a picture we have sent him

Jigsaws

I've mentioned Peter's game Magnetic which I love. Well, now he has moved onto new things and that is jigsaws. The first thing he did was ordinary jigsaws that you could download onto the computer. Each jigsaw is about 300 pieces - each slighltly different. He has produced a programme which means that you can make the playing of the jigsaws as easy or as hard as you want. You can work with a picture to look at. You can align all the pieces the correct way or leave them as they are. You can work on just the border if you want to. And you can sort the pieces into different groups and just work on a small piece at a time. I will be honest I would not walk into a shop and buy a jigsaw - it irritates me to have jigsaw pieces all over the place and I always lose bits. But these I enjoy. There are two jigsaws that you can download and play for free (a logo and a market scene) and then you can if you like pay a small subscription and have a new jigsaw emailed to you every week for a year. Peter is a good photographer and each picture has been very different from the one before. The second thing he has moved onto is moving jigsaws. These are incredible. I did some beta testing for him. But now they are up and running. There is something so frustrating in trying to do a jigsaw where only a moment ago there was a picture and then there was just background where you are working. He has produced nine of these at the moment. Again, I think you can subscribe to get them or - if you have subscribed to the ordinary jigsaws you will get them for free. The pictures are all totally different. One is a logo with falling coins and the name scrolling across at different levels. There is one which is blocks of colour which change in size and position. I really enjoyed that and there is another which is a scene from close to where he lives with running water. Again, the first two jigsaws can be downloaded for free. He is supplying the nine jigsaws as a one off at the moment, although I think people will ask for more. The other thing is that you can control how fast the changes happen Give them a try www.mulawa.net and follow the links

GooRoo, Peter lives over here in Australia, but he is extremely prompt about mailing out the CD. It normally takes about a week to get to America, of course Christmas might affect it. He only put the download option on the website because people said they preferred to download it. If you are downloading the complete game as against the demo, please let me know and I will give you the access to the forum

Yes, there is a demo and I didn't post the URL for it in case anyone thought I was being a little pushy Peter also does great jigsaws and is beta testing an even more awesome jigsaw puzzle while Shona does beautiful beads (and that I know about because I have bought some) www.mulawa.net

OK, I'm on my soap box here I am not a great game player but there is one othe game that I have enjoyed as much as I have enjoyed Gruntz. Don't get me wrong - its not a stayer like Grunz - there won't be lots of custom levels but it is a challenging and thought provoking game which makes you think. The premise is that you are washed up on an island after a storm. You find a puzzle in the sand. You have to work out how to play this puzzle. Both what the game is and the rules behnd it. To prove your mastery of this you have to beat the computer 8 times as the puzzle gets progressively more complicated. Once you beat the puzzle more areas in the game open up. You find that you have to solve a small puzzle which then leads to a more challenging game where you again have to show your mastery over the computer. You have to try and work out what the whole premise of the game is at the same time. You have your own nominated companion who gives you hints and advice when he thinks you need it. Peter, who designed the game (its his second) is a mathematician and used to get extremely exasperated with me because I wanted to see patterns in the games all the time where he was seeing maths. Anyway - its a great game - played by some members of this board already. Pop over to his website www.mulawa.net - have a look at the game - there is a downloadable demo - and the gallery and at the same time have a browse at other parts of his site. There are reviews of the game there as well (I have to admit he did get one bad review and I am not going to comment on that one at all) His has his own forum there for players only and if you ever post there I will wave to you from my part of the beach

I am absolutely amazed that Gruntz still continues to have the popularity it does. GooRoo, a lot of that has to be because of your enthusiasm and determination to create a forum that would be here for us when the "real" gruntz forum dies. I think we also have to remember those people who kept the old forum going by spending the time to keep checking and answering new questions. It would be interesting to see which level and which puzzle in that level caused the most grief. I think it is very sad that Monolith decided not to release another Gruntz as I feel we have shown that there would have been a demand for one.

I think that I, Idle Al, Jean, Sue (she posts occasionally), Silverlady and Xeno are about the longest standing members at the moment. Whatever happens I also believe that there is a place for this forum. For a long time we have tried to improve the Gruntz forum , get moderators on it to get rid of spammers and offensive posters and try to organise it better. We haven't been able to, but now we have this forum which is improving all the time. I believe that if we are given the opportunity to take the domain on we have to take it. After all, it is the link through the game now that gruntzgoo has gone. I would look on it as the front page linking to the forum we have here, as well as to Paul's and other sites that we know of as well as possibly with a link to Real where you can download the game etc.

Make sure you select both gruntz so that they move together - not each one individually

There is a trick to it. You have to position your spongegruntz exactly and fire at the enemy gruntz as he hits particular arrows. My best advice to you is look at the walkthrough link for this level where there is a picture that is worth a thousand words. It takes practice, but you need to push him across at the end of each row so you have time to shoot again. Aim about three arrows ahead of him - and save
