Neron Hosting is not a free host site. I pay a certain amount each month for the 24 hours a day, 7 days a week access to files used in this Forum. Follow the link I provided in the ProBoards Customizations/Tailoring/etc. Board to Neron, and learn for yourself what is available, and what the cost of the services would be. I am using the minimum services, and have lots of space and bandwidth left over (in spite of all of the images, Custom Levelz, walkthroughz, etc. used!), so you should be able to get by with the minimum very easily. There are also free web host sites listed in the ProBoards Support FAQs thread. Browse through the list, and visit some of the sites to see if there is one that meets your needs.

Apparently my web host server is down, so that the buttons and other images cannot be displayed. While this is certainly an inconvenience, it is still possible to make your way around the Forum. I provided text alternatives to the various gadgets, so if you place your mouse close enough to where the gadget should be, you will see the text come up, such as "reply to this message". Click there, and you will be able to post.

Apparently my web host is down, as any image stored on the web host that I have not accessed in the past few dayz is no longer being displayed to me. I presume that most of the memberz are experiencing even more missing imagez! I am afraid that the provider may have ceased its existence, since my e-mailz to the support team have been returned as "undeliverable". If the web host is truly gone, that meanz that none of my downloadz (of Custom Levelz) work, and all other support filez are lost. While almost everything is stored on my hard drive, finding a new web host, and re-uploading everything would be extremely time-consuming. Since the waspz are preventing me from spending as much time as I'd like at the computer, that is extremely bad newz! Plus, this Forum's linkz have "info" embedded, and those would all have to be changed, in order to work with a new host. I am already so far behind in maintenance, that the problemz almost make it impossible to continue ... if I had to start all over with a new web host. Let us hope (and pray) that the situation is temporary, and not truly the loss of my web host.

I also hope the problemz will clear up. I don't think the new web host is very good, first CL download link problemz and now this . I think the old one was better.

are thingz really back to normal, and all the problemz solved?.... Thingz are better! I am now able to login to the web host maintenance area! So now I have to spend some time determining everything that needz to be done, and begin doing those taskz. I have almost all day tomorrow to work on the Forum, so would appreciate PMz telling me what thingz need to be done ... CLz uploaded, et cetera. I am still battling Yellow Jacketz, but will be able to work in time on the Forum in between checkz on how the foam barrier is holding up. If I can keep the workerz from supplying food to the nest, eventually they will be starved out ... the queen die, and I can see about permanently blocking the nesting area from outside access. (They chewed one or more holez through the exterior wall near the eavez, and built their nest inside the wall in the attic over the garage.)

Apparently my web host server is down (again!), because none of the stored imagez are being displayed for me. Hopefully, this is a temporary situation, because I know that none of the Custom Levelz may be downloaded while the host is down, nor walkthroughz viewed, et cetera.
When I stored the replacement imagez, I assigned alternate text to as many of them as I could, so if you place your cursor near where the image should be, the text will be displayed, and you know that you may click in that place to achieve the desired result. (As I did in order to post a reply in this thread.)

Like I said, the old one was better . Before I joined this forum, I had been visiting it almost daily since I found it. I never saw a single problem with the old web host .

Hopefully, the problems here will clear up shortly. The Monolith Gruntz forum has been down for nearly a week. I was just over there now, and it's back up and running.

I am now working (very slowly) at creating a "Basic" 'skin' for this Forum that does not make extensive use of any custom imagez. That will greatly speed up access to the threadz on the Forum. The dialog boxez for extra smiliez will still exist, but probably none of them will actually be usable. It will be necessary for each user to select that "Basic" skin ... it will not be the default for the Forum. This 'skin' will only be necessary for those timez when my web host is down ... as right now. Because it takez a lot of time to get a new screen displayed, it may well take me all day to create such a 'skin' that will be any better than what we have right now.
Please be patient ... I will post again in this thread when there is something usable as an alternative to the "Default" skin, without all of the custom imagez ... that will never be loaded, but take many cyclez out of the browser as it attemptz to locate and download those imagez.

Okay, here's the deal:
Go into your profile (the button is under "sages" of "messages". Modify profile. Select skin: Basic Save your changez.
This will slightly speed up screen loadz.
I am working on a meanz to selectively bypass scriptz, based upon whether the web host is working, or not. That meanz I have to post my questionz on the ProBoards Support Forum and have someone provide me with an answer that workz! That may take some time, to have someone with the necessary knowledge come on-line to that Forum, read my question and respond to it, and for me to get the notification than an answer has been posted to my question. I spped that process up slightly by remaining on-line in PBS, refreshing the screen containing my post, until someone respondz.
If I get a workable answer, I will then set a global variable with a value of "No" meaning that my web host is not available, and test for that in various scriptz that load custom imagez (backgroundz, New/Old post iconz, et cetera) and skip to the end of those scriptz, bypassing the loadz. Then all I would have to do is change "No" to anything else, and the scriptz would execute once the web host is available once again.

Apparently my browser (Firefox) and the way I access the Forum retains most of the images used in this Forum, and I did not experience the problems many of the Gruntzerz have suffered over the past five dayz or so. Gaby complained via PM about the problem, but I didn't have the same result, so thought it was not universal. But when I could not reach the web host in order to upload new CLz, et cetera, I quickly learned that Neron Hosting was truly (once again!) down.
So I will set aside the CL that I have been designing, and increase my efforts to migrate to GoDaddy. That will involve getting support help from GoDaddy on how to make it possible for everyone to access Custom Levelz and Walkthrough filez without having to login to (my little part of) GoDaddy first. That would be just too annoying! I have been spoiled by the ability to enter an URL in a post, and have that link open up a dialog box with a simple click. That's what I want GoDaddy to make possible for all of us.

It appearz that my history of imagez for this Forum has scrolled out of the list, so I am now back to using the "Basic" skin. How blah! No background imagez at all, no gradientz, 'flat' buttonz ... nothing to 'grab' a visitor to the Forum ... and so slooooooow!
I hope I get the requested assistance from GoDaddy soon, so that I can undertake the task of switching over from NeronHosting (which apparently has 'gone south'). I spent more on breakfast yesterday than the cost of web hosting with Neron Hosting for the last quarter of the year, so that is no concern at all. The loss of the visual enhancements is a BIG concern, to me.
For those who may not have read the thread "gooroosgruntz.info" and other scattered comments, the problem is that I do not know how to allow Gruntzerz to access the filez that I have stored on GoDaddy in the same easy manner that has been normal with NeronHosting; click on an image or text link, and have a download (or similar) dialog box opened immediately to view the materiel. That link method is also crucial to the display of imagez, buttonz, gradientz and other gadgetz! If I cannot simply specify the URL of the file, and have it inserted in place on the Forum, then GoDaddy is of no use to me whatever. It shouldn't be necessary for every registered Gruntzer to have to also have a login to GoDaddy (even if I could make that 'automatic', as far as each Gruntzer is concerned!), if for no other reason than the amount of administrative overhead involved in setting up the access for each new Gruntzer.
If I can make no headway with GoDaddy to resolve the problemz, I will pursue another web host that supportz "hot-linking" in the same way that Neron Hosting did. It will still be a considerable amount of work to locate and replace each string of "info" with the appropriate web host name ... but (with Global Moderator help), I believe it could be accomplished in less than a week.
